Because some people won't get it. They won't. And you cannot change their mind. And they will hate on you. And they will say things that will get under your skin if you let it. There is an element in going after your dreams that nobody tells you. It is one that's kind of silent because it's a little bit awkward to admit. And it's also, well, it's kind of sad.
There will be a lot of people who think that you're nuts. Who think that you're crazy. And in fact, doing this is not you that's not you bro you're not that guy and I've realized the more and more I focus on myself and the more and more I go after things that are in my brain of mine that's flooded with brain rot and chopped chin references I realize something about the world around me
Haters gonna hate. It is the default. It's like the Jonesy of the male experience. Actually, scratch that. It's the Jonesy of any experience, any person, any gender, any color, any creed. Haters are gonna hate. You will have people that will support you, who will be like, you know what, I see the vision. I'm gonna do everything in my power to help you.
And you will have people who will literally just say, no, no, it's not gonna work. And you cannot convince the haters that you can do it. You can't, it's already decided. And oftentimes I feel like when we go after something that's bigger than ourselves and maybe the goal isn't even that big. I wanted to get out of my hometown. That was a big thing for me.
And I realized how many haters there were. It was eyeopening and how many motivators there were. Hashtag Bethany Moda. Shout out. OGs will remember. Haters are going to hate. It's what will happen. People will not get the vision and they will try to put you down and return you back to their level now. There is a difference between being delusional and being kind of a jerk about your dreams.
I have been both. There was a part of me in high school that was like, I'm going to make it. I'm going to make it. Oh, this is so beneath me. Do you know how much work you have to put into anything in life? Anything in life. Do you know how much work there is? Then you actually realize, dang, this is like a lot of work. And that's really when the haters start to get to you.
There's been so many times in my personal life where someone had told me, you know what? Yeah, you are talented, I guess. Sure, you know how to talk to a camera, but taxes and rent are going to come. And you can't pay the bills with this little dumb video stuff you do. And I had a choice. I could either say, Oh, you're right.
Or I could be like, maybe, but if I really want to do this, I don't give a sigma. I'll get a job. I'll work somewhere. I'll be serving chopped cheeses at the bodega. Who cares? It's not below me. Nothing's below me. If I need to go back to the drawing board, I will. And that was the mentality that allowed me to continue doing what I was doing.
Even when there were no people watching, I knew I had to keep going because all the hate comments, all the people who were like, trolling me, I knew haters were going to hate. And people will always have something to say, no matter what you do. If you're going to be yourself, if you're going to be authentic, you cannot please everybody. It's just not possible.
