Full Episode
You want to talk to somebody, you don't need to have a script. It's just, hey, my name is Jeff. My name Jeff. I was the person that every new year I would whip out my journal, nay-nay my pen, and write down 20 things that I wanted to complete by the end of the year. 11 months would pass, it would be December, I would open that same journal and realize I had done nothing.
But I was, I was so motivated to lock in. Yeah, but I also had 20 things to do and I didn't do the first one so I thought, well, maybe I'll do the second and then I didn't do the second and I was like, well, maybe I'll do none. Keep it simple. My coach used to always say that when we would play soccer.
because I would be doing a Ronaldo chop, I would be going left when I was supposed to go right because I wanted to do a crossover, and then I wanted to send a Messi-like pass, a De Bruyne-level pass, and he's like, Zerky, keep it simple, what are you doing? It's one pass back to the goalie. That's it. Oftentimes we complicate things that could be so simple. And a lot of it is our own wrongdoing.
We think that we need to overcomplicate things because that's the way that we're going to get to our goals. When it's cap. Not true. You want to start making content. You want to start making videos. Awesome goal for this next year. Maybe you wanna make videos about lacrosse. Maybe you wanna make videos about your own personal life. Whatever it is, you should do it like yesterday.
But you're gonna start this new year, that's cool. You think, okay, I gotta learn how to shoot on a camera. I gotta learn how to edit. I gotta learn how to post. No! Keep it simple. Learn how to talk in front of the camera, first thing. Everyone has a phone. Set up your phone, yap into it. Do you feel comfortable? If yes, continue. If no, maybe it's not for you.
Maybe you wanna just be behind the scenes. You wanna learn how to edit. Download an editing software, tap in. Keep it simple. The more complicated we make things, the less motivated we get to actually try them.
If something is within our grasp and we know we can learn it pretty easily, or it's a little bit challenging, but we know we can learn it, we're more keen to putting our energy into actually learning it. When something is so crazy, it seems like an astrophysics equation, you don't even wanna start. You're done before you even started, bye. So keep it simple.
You wanna talk to somebody, you don't need to have a script. It's just, hey, my name is Jeff. My name Jeff. How are you doing today? I saw you were wearing a Daft Punk shirt. I love Daft Punk. What's up? Oh, I love Daft Punk too. My favorite song is Get Lucky. Keep it simple. By making the easy pass, like my coach said,
You don't need to overcomplicate the simple things because the simple things are already pretty difficult. You need to show up day in, day out, and do it every single day, every other day. You need to get in a flow where you're doing it. That's what it's about. And you won't do that time and time again if it isn't simple.
