Chapter 1: Who is Sophie Thatcher and what projects is she known for?
Thank you. How are you?
I'm good. I'm good. I can't believe we have mutuals in common from Lake Forest. Lake Forest. Lake Forest is so specific. Well, Louise was like. Well, it's more shore, so I get it.
Chapter 2: What is Yellowjackets about and why is it so captivating?
Yeah. Well, Louise was like, you know, she grew up in Lake Forest. And I was like, like Lake Forest, Illinois. And she was like, yeah. I was like, wait, that's Brett's hometown.
That's crazy. It's like the craziest mutual to have. Popcorn. I know. That's like a Chicago staple. I know.
Do you like the caramel mix?
Oh, yeah. It's the caramel and the cheddar.
Yeah, the cheddar.
The Boy Scouts. Why don't they do that anymore? I feel like there are no Boy Scouts anymore.
There are no Boy Scouts, right?
What happened to... Oh, because... Great way to start this. I was like, what happened?
Wait, do they still do Boy Scouts?

Chapter 3: How does Sophie Thatcher prepare for intense group scenes in Yellowjackets?
Oh my God. Sorry. I just panicked. You just reminded me that.
You have another? Oh.
Oh, yeah. This is coming out after the finale. So you can say anything.
Okay.
Spoiler alert.
Great. Yeah. I feel like we're all pretty good at keeping it light. I think you have to. Or else all of us. I have a thing where I really don't. A lot of the scenes this season are the group scenes. Right. And technically it's a pain in the ass. Because it's so many takes. Yeah.
Oh, because you have to do this angle and this angle.
It takes probably, like, eight hours to do, like, a two-page group scene. Oh. Which is insane, and you're just so... It really is a test for any actor, just saying the same line over and over again. It feels like theater to some extent, which I haven't done in a while. So that's the most exhausting when we have a group scene that's, like, really tense. Yeah, yeah.
You know, you have to stay in that all day. That's, like, the only other option is, like... I don't know. I feel like we don't really, cause we go out, we're in the, we shot a lot of it in the forest this season, which is similar to season one where season two was all on like a stage, uh, Yay! Amazing! So it was nice to have that immersion quality again.

Chapter 4: What was Sophie Thatcher's experience auditioning for Yellowjackets?
Go home! Well, because that already aired episode eight.
By the time this comes out, all episodes will be out.
Amazing. All episodes.
So right now, spoiler for those who haven't seen, Hannah disguised herself as you.
Mm-hmm.
And you went to the top of the hill to make a phone call. Mm-hmm. Like, that feeling when the line was going up and, like, you finally made that call, like, I... Oh, my God.
We had to do that a lot. And we it was a fun experience because we took a helicopter. It was just like eight of us on this helicopter going up to this mountain. There was no snow. Right. They faked all of it. And that's kind of the point of going there is to be snow. But there wasn't any snow. But it looked just because it was so vast. Right. And it was so endless and adding to that feeling of.
you know, being so lost in such a huge place. It made her feel so small. And then hearing the voice just added, you know, and you almost forget on the show that they get rescued, which I think is interesting that in that moment, you're like, wait,
They get rescued.

Chapter 5: What are Sophie Thatcher's thoughts on music vs acting?
You didn't even call back nothing?
Which, no, no callback, no nothing. Which I've never, especially so early on in my career to have that. I was like, this is a joke, right? This is a joke. And then I think they were talking about Juliet wasn't attached yet, but they were saying that they were looking at Juliet to play the older me. Because everyone talks about me. Of course, I matched Julia, but it was weird that I was cast first.
But it kind of just worked out perfectly.
Dude, I've never seen such incredible younger versus older casting ever.
I feel like people always say that about the show. I'm surprised the casting directors haven't gotten more. They need me. And you know who's so underrated?
younger versus older van.
Yes. Right?
Like, they look so much alike.
They look so much alike, and it's the same physicality. Yes. It's a lot of the same mannerisms. It's a lot of the same cadences.

Chapter 6: How does Sophie Thatcher choose her acting projects?
Right, right.
Which it kind of does to some extent.
Was there ever like something in the script that you and everyone was like, oh my God, like also kind of gagged by? Like, do you remember a moment of like all texting each other being like, holy fuck, I can't believe this.
I mean, yes. Yeah. I mean, lots. I guess we all knew Ben was going to die.
Oh, that was so. And they prolonged it for so long. They really did. They really did. And it's almost like you felt it with him. Like, okay, at this point, just fucking kill him.
Yeah, exactly.
You're like, just fucking kill him.
Which worked. Because it was like they had the trial and they were like, oh, we're going to do it now. And then it didn't happen. Yeah. But, I mean, Stephen's so good. That scene was really hard to shoot because he is family. He truly is family to all of us at this point. And the first season is like, God, we would all party at his house. I would drink so much.
Everyone would drink so much White Claw. It was COVID. Everybody was crazy. And he was just like, I don't know, would host and just be like, he's a beautiful guy. And he's just really kind. And I thought he was so good in that episode and so good this season, just in the show. But it was hard. I'm glad that they chose Natalie for that. Yeah, me too.

Chapter 7: What lessons has Sophie Thatcher learned from her acting career?
I was like, wait, fuck you. Fuck you.
But like, God, like Melanie, Melanie.
Oh, she is. She is. When that, when she is a fucking queen, she is a queen. She is a queen. Sophie. Props to her for like that quick turn. Cause you go from feeling like really bad, even though she's like doing some shitty things. It's like that full, I've ever seen Breaking Bad.
It's that and The Wire that I haven't seen.
Okay, you gotta watch Breaking Bad. I haven't seen The Wire, so I can't speak for The Wire, but Breaking Bad's one of my favorite shows of all time. And there is this, you know, he's doing all these bad things. He's kind of this anti-hero, but there's this moment in the show where he breaks bad, essentially, and becomes this- He breaks bad? Breaking bad? No, but he becomes this true villain.
And I feel like Shawna had her Breaking Bad moment this season and became the villain. You know, with the help of Hannah. Yeah. With the help from Hannah.
Yeah.
Okay. And in addition to Yellow Jackets, you were also a musician. Yeah. You just released your debut EP, Yellow Jackets University, AP. Sorry, that was so cringe that I said that. AP, Pivot and Scrape, congratulations.
Thank you.

Chapter 8: What is Sophie Thatcher's relationship with her Yellowjackets co-star Juliet?
It's a social anxiety. I 100% get it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you are complimenting them. Yeah, exactly.
You're not like, I actually did not feel like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, yeah, I think music is... I know exactly what I want with music and I know exactly my taste. And I'm still trying to figure out my taste with with picking projects right now.
Like for acting.
Yeah. I, which is interesting. I know what I like, but like picking project wise and like getting scripts now, it's interesting to try to like decipher what resonates with me and what doesn't, because sometimes the second time you read a script, you really like it. And it depends on your mood that day. Whereas with music, it's like, I kind of know immediately. It's a very, it's a guttural feeling.
It's a guttural in tune feeling. Whereas with scripts, it's like it can change and it's so entirely dependent on the crew and, and like having a conversation, it's like, it's less intuition based.
What type of projects do you typically lean towards? Because I feel like you're in mostly, like, not... I'm doing horror.
Like, horror, thriller, thrillery. Yeah, I mean, I was drawn to that. I made a lot of... Me, I have a twin sister. Yes. And we made zombie movies when we were younger. Oh, did you really? Oh, yeah. I-movie? Yeah. Oh, iMovie, of course. We didn't know how to use anything else. But it was all that. So it's like, of course. It's a very natural path. I'm insanely lucky to be where I'm at right now.
And insanely lucky to be in such like elevated projects where it's not, you know, purely based upon jump scares. It's based upon...
you know something psychological and far more human and far more timely and like real topics that a lot of people choose not to talk about um so i guess i don't know i feel like i've done a lot of it so i just want to choose projects where i haven't where it's new territory right
