I just saw you on uh CNN talking about the big meta judgment. Actually, it was about the trial. Meta has settled. We'll talk about that in just a little bit. But I have to Start off with a story we've been covering for almost a m I think a month. But it's got the plot has thickened. We're talking about the hugging face open AI hacking incident. Uh OpenAI brought in meter. To do a full report uh and along with Redwood Research. What's interesting is OpenAI did not give them all of the session traces. For some reason, they went right up to the last 10 minutes of the hacking incident and then shut it off. Maybe they wanted to hide how they Uh me remediated it. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks maybe they wanted to hide how they didn't remediate it.
But if you read this report, it is Kind of an eye opener. So just to get you caught up, I we talked about when we were at Black Hat we saw Open AI's presentation. Uh July seventh through july thirteenth. Open AI testing its new models, which we think is the new Astro, which should be coming out by the way, any week now. Uh uh testing it in uh cyber def cybersecurity gave it a very well known and very, very difficult cyber security test called Exploit Gym. Uh the a AI apparently decided it was either too difficult or that the easier path would be to find the answers out there. It was a open AI says sandboxed, but it managed to escape its sandbox, find machines at OpenAI that could get onto the internet, then go out on the internet
I in the in the by the way, proving its ability at cybersecurity, 'cause it it managed to find zero days in tools that OpenAI was using, zero days on four other sites, including Hugging Face, where they finally found the Exploit Gym answers. That's what we thought happened.
