Johann hat dieses Jahr beim Ironman Texas mit einer Gesamtzeit von 7:57 Stunden erstmals eine Langdistanz unter der magischen Acht-Stunden-Marke ins Ziel gebracht. 2016 wurde er unter anderem Zweiter beim Ironman 70.3 Rügen und landete beim Ironman Barcelona auf Platz vier.
