T-Time with Tori Totlis

59. Building a Better Female Experience from the Ground Up with Golf Course Architect, Christine Fraser

24 Jul 2023

Description

I’m sitting down with Christine Fraser, an Ontario-based golf course architect, to discuss the world of golf course design from the perspective of one of the very few women in the industry. We kick things off by discussing trends in golf course architecture over the decades, as well as what goes into “strategic design”, including fairway length, bunker placement, approach width, and environmental impact—especially water consumption. The bulk of our conversation revolves around her advice on designing golf courses with women in mind. About the Guest: Christine Fraser is a golf course architect based in Ontario, Canada. Having grown up learning to play golf on her family’s golf course and later competing in the NCAA Division One Varsity Golf circuit in Florida, golf has always been a prominent feature in Christine’s journey. In 2014, Christine completed her master’s degree in landscape architecture and subsequently spent five years in England, practicing golf course design under world-renowned architect Dr. Martin Hawtree. Christine has recently made Canadian golf history when hired as the first female architect to undertake a comprehensive Master Plan at the Toronto Hunt Club.  Connect with Christine: Instagram | Website Subscribe to our FREE Female Golfer Facebook Group: First T Crew [Behind the Scenes of Women’s Golf] Get in touch!
