I'm talking as recently as the last five or six years. Wow. Yeah, that's how recent the questions have come up. Excellent. Okay. Righto, this is your last exit before the freeway.

Chapter 3: What role did Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks play in the film?
Yeah, I've done that.
I can feel that. Which is kind of the modern equivalent of if it's on free-to-air.
Yes.
You know what I mean? Remember early when you said, do you think you've seen this? I'll tell you what, I've seen a lot of it, clips of it on social media.
Yeah.
So many on TikTok and Insta. That's why I'm thinking you've probably come across them yourself. Maybe. Yeah. Maybe. A lot of clips, very clippable show this one. Clippable. Yeah. That should be a new segment. Clippable. A clippable moment. Maybe that's better than the meme. We'll rethink that one then. All right, our casting call. Yeah. Leonardo DiCaprio, of course, plays Frank Abagnale Jr.
Also, shout out to the makeup team who make him look very young. Yes. And much older. Not old, but they've aged him really well. There's a bit of face makeup too. I think so too, yeah. No, really well done. True. He was in, of course, Titanic, which we've done. The Departed, which we're going to do. That's a Martin Scorsese movie.
The Wolf of Wall Street, which we've done, another Martin Scorsese movie. I've now decided I'm going to get AI to read the transcripts of this show. I'm going to find out all the movies you've said we're going to do. They're all on the list, mate.
They're all on a massive list.

Chapter 4: How accurate is the portrayal of events in the movie?
Check spelled check, as in Q-U-E, checkpoint. I'm okay with it. It's not perfect. Checkpoint. I think I should be consulting on those from now on. No, mate, it's my creation. Okay. That clip, to tell the truth that opens the movie, was based on an actual episode of that show. And in that episode, Frank Abagnale Jr.
was there and not a single panelist correctly guessed that he was the real Frank Abagnale Jr. Which would be a win for him. And you can watch that on YouTube. The original one is on YouTube. You can watch it if you want to check it out. Then we flash forward to a French prison where FBI agent Carl Hanratty, that's Tom Hanks, arrives to extradite a sickly Frank. He's sort of sick and coughing.
He sounds horrible. He looks horrible. Then we jump back to 1963. It was at this point I'm like, oh, my God, is this going to be jump forward, jump back kind of movie? Well, it is, yeah. But not too jarring. It only does it a couple of times and it's perfectly enough. Four times I counted. Which is fine in two and a half hours. Not too jarring. The first jump back is to new Rochelle in New York.
Frank Jr. is at a Rotary convention. His father, Frank Sr., is being honoured by the local Rotary club. Tells the story of the two mice. Yeah, that's right. That'll come in my quotes. The IRS, though, is investigating our man Frank Sr. for tax evasion. Family's wealth is beginning to dry up. Yeah, they lose the car.
And you saw early on sort of the makings, I think the inspiration for Frank Abagnale Jr. 's sort of con man. Remember when he went and you needed him to get the suit? Yep. And he goes, oh, what's your name? That's a pretty name. Hang on, did you drop this outside? He learns how to charm and disarm. Disarm, yes. Yeah, I think you got that out of his old man.
Anyway, the IRS is investigating and the wealth is drying up. After moving to a small apartment, Frank is then sent to a public school. And still dresses like he's at a private school. Correct. And a bully mocks him and Frank instinctively pretends to be the new French substitute teacher. Here it is.
Quiet down, people. My name is Mr. Abagnale. That's Abagnale, not Abagnale, not Abagnale, but Abagnale. Now, somebody please tell me where you left off in your textbooks. Excuse me, people, if I need to ask again, I'm gonna write up the entire class. Take your seats.
Chapter seven.
Will you please open your textbooks to chapter eight and we'll get started.

Chapter 5: What creative techniques were used in the film's cinematography?
Yes, ma'am, that's me. I want to know everything there is to know about being a pilot. What airports does Pan Am fly to? What does a pilot make in here? And who tells them where they're gonna fly to? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Just take them one at a time. All right. What does it mean when one pilot says to another pilot, what kind of equipment are you on?
I just want to know what kind of aircraft you're flying. Is it a DC-8, 707, Constellation?
And what about those ID badges that I've seen pilots wear?
Well, every pilot has to have two things with them at all times. One is his airline personnel badge. Looks just like this one here from Pan Am. The other one is their FAA license. And that looks just like this.
Do you think I can make a copy of this to put into my article?
Oh, Frank, you can have that one. It's three years expired.
Oh, thanks. And what about your ID badge? Do you have an extra one I could borrow?
Oh, no, I can't help you there. It was a special order from Polaroid. The only way to get one of those is to become a real live pilot for Pan American Airways. So good. So many little, you know, you can just see his whole thing building here. But how smart was it too when he wanted to get the uniform? He rang up, he goes, oh, I lost my hotel. And they go, oh, yeah, happens all the time.
And the best part of it is he gets the fitting and then he's like, okay, you can see him. Because he's still young and nervous. He's like, can I write you a check? And the bloke goes, no, we don't accept checks. And you see him like, oh, no, what am I going to do here? And he goes, we'll take it out of your pay. And he goes, even better. And he goes, you look a bit young.

Chapter 6: What themes of identity and deception are explored in the movie?
And you think, oh, shit, he's sprung. And then he goes, your wallet. Yes, you hold on to it. I'll be back in a minute.
I'm just going to take all this stuff to the car.
He builds this little level of this tiny trust, which dissipates pretty quickly. Well, handwriting then goes, well, I'll just clip open the wallet, and it's just all cuttings, clippings, labels. All labels from cans and bottles. Do you have an unpack later on about the label thing? Cutting part of his life? Well, it's sort of gay.
It was, I think, part of his character, like probably a nervous twitch that he sort of likes peeling. That's all it is because there's no real benefit to having a tomato sauce label in your pocket. You don't want to have the real ā he's thinking that he can make that not look real by taking the label off it. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, that was an interesting point there.
By the time he realizes he's being duped, Frank is gone. Gone. Another important checkpoint here for you. This is major.
Yeah.
Tom Hanks' character, Carl Hanratty, made up for the movie. Oh. He was a several characters. He was obviously being followed and chased. Yes. So it wasn't just a single solo chase. It was amalgam of several agents who did it. Makes sense. Next up, he feels the heat and decides, you know what, I'm moving to Georgia. Changes his identity to Dr. Frank Connors. Remember he makes up that dud diploma?
And, yeah, he's looking to get some work.
Dear Dad, I've decided to get off the road for a while. I've taken a night job at a hospital and met some really nice people. It feels good to have my feet on the ground, to wake up in the same bed every night. Who knows? Maybe I'll even find someone to settle down with. Harvard Medical School, top of your class. Southern California Children's Hospital.

Chapter 7: What was the audience's reaction to the film's authenticity?
But you have to trust me, Brenda.
Do you trust me? Do you love me, Brenda? Pretty intense scene. In that scene, he says, I ran away from home when I was 16 a year and a half ago. So he's only 18. He's barely 18. But do you remember on that first check where he scratched out 48 and made it 38?
Pause button, right? Or whatever, yeah.
Yeah, so close to 20, yeah. He made himself 10 years older. Yep. And so that's why he said, hang on, you're 28 and you're doing this. So he's actually only 18. Yep. And he's been a lawyer, a doctor, and done all this stuff. It's all a bit wild. Crazy. But, yeah, that's an intense scene. So the end point of that is ā It's kind of the ride or die moment, eh? You come with me.
She tells him, right, you've got to meet me in two days at Miami International Airport. Come with this money. And it's a long way away, apparently, because he says get in the cab and just drive all the way. And so that's the plan. And he jumps out the window. Yeah. Frank arrives at the airport, sees agents everywhere. I knew exactly what was happening here.
He was not going to get out and greet her. He was going to pay attention. And as soon as one guy whispers in her ear, he's like, hang on. And then he starts looking more intently and sees the people on the roof and just everyone becomes an FBI agent then. But what he does, he surrounds himself with all these stewardesses. He's got his Pan Am uniform on. All the stewardesses are all around him.
They walk right past him and the other FBI. Every cop in the building. And boards a flight to Europe. And he uses the same ruse that he learned from his dad at the start. Wear a suit, pretend to be my driver. So he just pays some bloke. to wear a captain's outfit, sit in a car, and that's who the cops go and get. And the best part of this is who are you meant to meet?
And he brings up the sign that says Hanratty. Hanratty. And so he's just toying with him now. Exactly. Just toying with him.
That's a great bit.

Chapter 8: What lasting impact did 'Catch Me If You Can' have on popular culture?
So he's like, I don't want to be part of this. Even to the point where he doesn't even try to get out. He just says, put me in the car. Put me in the car. I want to get out. Frank is sentenced to 12 years in prison. Yeah. And Carl is a frequent visitor. During one visit, Frank effortlessly identifies a forged cheque that Carl was working on.
Tell me what you think.
That's a fake. How do you know you haven't looked at it? There's no perforated edge, right?
I mean, this cheque was hand-cut, not fed. Paper's double bonded, much too heavy to be a bank check. Magnetic ink, it's raised against my fingers instead of flat. This doesn't smell like micker, it's some kind of a, you know, some kind of a drafting ink, you know, the kind you get at a stationery store. Frank, would you be interested in working with the FBI's Financial Crimes Unit?
I already got a job here. You know, I deliver the mail. Frank, we have the power to take you out of prison. You'd be placed in the custody of the FBI where you'd serve out the remainder of your sentence as an employee of the federal government.
Great idea. That actually happened. Carl arranges for Frank to serve the remainder of his sentence working for the FBI's Financial Crimes Unit. It's basically house arrest under Carl's watch. And him helping to identify all the dud checks that he's now an expert in identifying. Yeah. But Frank struggles initially with the boredom of office life and almost runs away. He thinks, I'm out of here.
Carl finds him at the airport, but he still lets him go.
I'm sorry I put you through all this. You go back to Europe, you're gonna die in Pepinon prison.
Try to run here in the States, we'll send you back to Atlanta for 50 years. I know that. I spent four years trying to arrange your release. Had I convinced my bosses at the FBI and the Attorney General of the United States, you wouldn't run. Why'd you do it?
