Chapter 1: What are the life lessons learned before turning 30?
This podcast is recorded on Gadigal land. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. Hey chicks, I'm Elle. And I'm Sal. And this is Two Broke Chicks, the show that shares life lessons and tips to help make you rich in life. And welcome back to another fabulous episode. Sal, how are you? I'm good. Been a wild, wild week. I know.
I was literally thinking, I was like dreading this week because it's probably the first five day week I've had back in like four weeks. But I was like, oh, no, I've flown too close to the sun. What am I supposed to do? Yeah, this is my life now. Yeah, like I've been spoiled and now I'm going to be a brat. Anyway, this week has gone so fucking quickly. It has absolutely flown.
I was like, what do you mean this time last week I was getting hair extensions and a fake tan? I know.
Chapter 2: How can embracing embarrassment lead to personal growth?
Take this for me, now I'm pale and in a slick bun. Like what? You're definitely not pale and you look beautiful. That's because this is all a lie. And if I took this high neck top off, you would never know a thing. Very scary, me naked right now. Very scary. But today we have a very exciting episode, if I do say so myself. I've been waiting. Three years from my turn.
Three years to do my 30 life lessons I learnt by 30. So three years ago you did yours.
And you chicks loved it. You guys love a life lessons episode. Like whenever we do our end of year wrap up, they're always one of our best performing episodes because I think the chicks are thirsty for the wisdom.
They want it all. Teach me. Do as I say, not as I do, you know. Yeah, we always say that. So before we get into it, do you want to share with me your obsession of the week?
Chapter 3: What are the benefits of using Vaseline in your beauty routine?
My obsession of the week is did you see that Emma Chamberlain did a new Architectural Digest tour of her home?
Oh, my gosh. Was it in sponsorship? Is it because she just did a – She did that collab. Yeah, like a furniture collection.
yeah she did so she did like a house tour like a few years ago and it's probably one of the best ad house tours they've ever done i think it's up there with like choice of arms is another really really good one and also kendall jenner anytime she does it is incredible um and this one was in collaboration with like that new partnership that she's done yeah um But, God, it's good. Yeah.
She has really, really good style. And taste. Yeah, and obviously, like, the thing with these AD tours, they're not exactly the most realistic source of inspiration. No. But I do still find them a source of inspiration. Like, for example, she has different motifs in different rooms of her house. So there's like one section of her house and there's just little apples everywhere.
It reminds me of like, you know, when you go to Disneyland and you have to find the hidden Mickey.
Oh, yes. It's like that. Do you remember that segment on Disney Channel where it's like they showed you a scene and you had to find the Mickey in the scene and then you would like write it in and I think you'd win a prize. Yeah, good times.
Okay, my obsession of the week is kind of tied into the episode, but it's that data shows that people stop listening to new pop music after the age of 33, which is known as taste freeze.
Yes, I've spoken about this on the podcast before. Have you? Oh, my gosh. Because remember when we did the interview with Emma Edwards and then we said something about Tate McRae. Oh, yes. And she was like, I don't know who that is. But, yeah, I honestly, as somebody who's 33, I have to concur. Concur, yeah.
Yeah. I don't think it counts – If you have listened to that artist before. So it's like. Like and they release new music or something. I feel like that's different. Whereas like if there's a new hip hop.

Chapter 4: How do friendships evolve in your 20s?
It's character building. It's character building. And like the ability to learn to laugh something off and be like, well, fuck. is like such a skill to have. I like only will ever be embarrassed now if I'm like, oh, I actually think I fucked up. And it's more like if I feel like I've maybe hurt someone's feelings. It's only embarrassing if you're embarrassed. Love that.
All of the most embarrassing things that happen to you end up being the best stories.
Yeah. All the embarrassing things that happen to me end up being your favorite stories. Yeah. Do you have a favorite?
Oh, out of all the embarrassing stories, the shitting yourself at Toddy's one was really good because you didn't tell me the whole truth in the moment. You told me that you got your period. And I remember I was like, cause I was at home and you were at Toddy's. So I was about maybe 20 minutes, 30 minutes away from you. And I was like, do you want me to come bring you an outfit?
Like, can you wait in the bathroom? I'm jumping in an Uber now.

Chapter 5: What does it mean to trust your decisions in life?
You're like, no, it's okay, she'll go grab one. And then on the podcast you told me that it was – so that was really, really good. But some of my favourite moments is that Al has like an uncanny talent for like saying something really embarrassing as like a waiter or somebody – comes behind her shoulder.
One time we were at Canberra Airport and you, like, scooted your chair and it made a sound and then you just said, I farted. And then the guy also came over and, like, served us our Coke Ceros and was like, oh. And you were like, oh, no. And you, like, couldn't quite get it out and he walked away and I was just, like, pounding the table, like, pissing myself.
So, yeah, that was one of my favourites. Whatever. Tee hee ha ha.
Okay, my next life lesson is I think you'll also love this one. You're going to love all of them actually, is Vaseline is the best money you will ever spend. You know how they say if you could get locked on a desert island and you could only choose one product? Yep. Vaseline, fucking Vaso. Yeah. That shit works for so many things and like when I run out of a tub, mum has gone to the chemist.
Yeah, yeah. Like I am in the car getting my Vaso. They also last so long. They last so long.
I was going to say by the next time you need to buy one, it will probably be like 40 life lessons from the 40s.
Seriously, Vaso sponsored me. Well, not with all the things I use it for. So I actually pulled in multiple life lessons under this one for all the things that you can use Vaseline for. Hit me. Get your notepad. All right, number one, you can use it underneath your mascara to extend your lashes. Yes.
So if you do like get like a little spoolie or you can even just use your fingertips if you want and it can make your lashes look longer when you put mascara on.
Mm-hmm.

Chapter 6: How can you find joy in simple daily rituals?
Another life lesson for you. Next one, dry patches for fake tan. Put a little bit of Vaseline on your elbows, on your ankles. If you get like little eczema dry patches, you can pop them over that. The next one, which I love, is perfume. So if you put a little, like Vaseline helps extend your perfume.
So if you put like a little drop of Vaseline, maybe under your chin or on your wrist, and then you spray perfume over that spot, It extends the life of your perfume scent on your skin.
It's like an adhesive for your perfume.
Yeah. Give it something to cling on to. Seriously. Number seven, lip balm. You know? Yeah. That's it. Miss Mullins. She's a man. She is a bastard. And then number eight is a good old slugging. I love just like I really don't have that much of an evening skincare routine. I don't have that much of a morning skincare routine. That's okay.
I keep it pretty simple, but my favorite thing is just going shablam and putting a shit ton of Vaso on my face and going to bed being like gorgeous. You don't need to get one of those like $70 sheet masks or That like stays on your face all night because one, how are you going to roll around in that?
Yeah, exactly.
Riddle me that. But you just need a little tub of Vaseline. A tub of Vaseline. And you know what? I'm sure there's more that I haven't even discovered yet and I can't wait. Drop them in the comments, chicks. We'll do part two when I turn 40. Yeah, can't wait. Don't use it for lube like they do in Puberty Blues though. Oh, yeah. Do you remember that? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, and they'll be like, oh, can you get it better?

Chapter 7: Why is it important to differentiate between being busy and being productive?
No, don't do that.
Don't do that. Not good for your hoo-ha. I love the little mini ones, you know, the tiny, tiny ones. Yes, and you just get the little tip of your nail and you go. Yeah, they're so cute.
I'm sure you could probably use it on your brows too to like brush them up. What can't it do? I'm going to put it in my hair and see what happens. I bet you'd be able to. Yeah. Do it like a hair mask. Yeah, slick bun. Seriously? You could use it to do a slick bun.
Yeah, definitely.
What can't Vaseline do? Wrap the episode there. I love it. Sponsor me now. Yeah. Ambassador, please. Yeah, clip it and send it to them. Seriously. Okay, my next life lesson is there is no such thing as a wrong decision.
When I was doing this episode, I was trying to think of like maybe the things that I maybe regretted or I wouldn't do again or maybe like ways that I would avoid certain situations to save myself maybe pain or annoyance or time, money or a headache. And in all of it though, I've realised I actually wouldn't change anything. Like I wouldn't go back and change anything.
Like sure, there are some things that I'm like maybe we'll fast forward that in the memory bank, right? But like there's not actually a single thing or decision that – I'm not saying every decision was necessarily the right decision.
Yeah.
But there wasn't necessarily a wrong one either because – You truly can just make like any decision you make is the one you make. So you make it the right one. Does that make sense? Yeah. Well, it's like Noah Centineo at like the Nickelodeon Awards being like do what not with what you have for yourself but what you do for others. Yeah. It's very that.

Chapter 8: How can a signature scent enhance your personal identity?
maybe the right or the wrong one on paper has led you to where you are now and you've learned so many things along the way. Yeah. And I think that's a good way to look at it because a lot of people look back on their 20s and they're like, oh, like I fucked this up or I wasted this or whatever.
Yeah, thank God.
Yeah, honestly.
Because like if I didn't, you know, potentially date let's say like that person, then I wouldn't have, you know, started being friends with this person and then through that person I wouldn't have met someone else who's like still in my life now. Like I think whenever I was looking at, you know, quote unquote the wrong decisions I've made or things that I'm like probably wouldn't do that again.
Yeah. there was always something that was like a tree branch off that, that I was like, but if I didn't make that decision, then I wouldn't have this now. Yeah. And like, I'm so insanely content and happy with my life now that I'm like, no, no, no, you got to go through the graveyard. Like, and I just really, it really, I think makes you a lot.
Well, it makes me a lot less anxious because I'm like, It'll be right. Honestly. Like it'll be fine unless you're doing something disgustingly wrong and illegal. Yeah. Then like – it will be okay. And I think there is this – and Sarah J Maas did her Call Her Daddy interview.
She was talking about how like when her book started blowing up, she was getting really like anxious and overwhelmed because obviously with, you know, more fame and popularity there comes more scrutiny and more people being like, meh, I hate Cassian, which I'm like, how could you? Yeah. Well, just like a lot of people expecting a lot from her, right?
And her therapist made her write out what was like the worst case scenario. Like if all of this went away, what would happen? And when she wrote it all out, she realized she was like, oh, like that's actually not that bad. Yeah, like I will be fine. I'll be fine. Even if the worst case scenario happens.
And, you know, my favorite stat ever is that 85% of the things that we worry about never happen. And majority of the things like that 15%, if that does happen, majority of people actually handle it better than they thought they would. So truly there is, to me, there's no such thing as a wrong decision. You just kind of smack it up, smack it in, figure it out.
