Two Strike Noise - A Baseball History Podcast

Episode 49 - HR Derby & Max Carey

14 Jan 2020

Description

The original HR Derby tv show debuted 60 years ago! This week we take a look back at the Hall of Fame players who battled each other for what was big money at the time. If Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and many more could spent part of their off season swinging lumber at LA’s Wrigley Field and we figured we could spend part of ours talking about it. Plus, Max Carey, a speedster in the dead ball era who kept running right into the Live Ball era. Before Lou Brock and Rickey Henderson, there was Max Carey. Wax Pack Heroes has a case of deja vu that has us asking how many Scott Fletcher cards are too many. If you've got those Tom Foley or Ernest Riles cards just sitting around you can donate those commons to charity and maybe spark a child's interest in baseball and collecting.
