Just sat down on fight week with Dave, the nice guy Naika man. So this actually coming out after your fight this episode. Yeah, I hope I did all right. And you know what? What a nice guy.
Bro, you'd be surprised how far you can get in life by just smiling and being nice. So I just wear it now, I literally wear it on my back. Just a really all-around great guy. Talks about his boxing, talks about the struggles. I set out some big goals for myself early on, a Commonwealth Games Gold, uh an Olympic gold, and to become a professional world champion.
And going through the cancer battle with his fiancee, Lexi Thornberry.
God put me here uh for a reason and I had I found my purpose, you know. Per fight became my fight.
A really great guy inside and outside the ring. One thing is for sure, you will know who David Nyeker is by the time he's done. So don't forget to like, comment, share, and subscribe. Couple couple hours, yeah, man. I this is probably the last chance you'll get me because I'm gonna be wasting away tomorrow. So got the wand coming. So got the way in coming.
I really appreciate you, bro. Because a lot of the times like you reach out to people and they say, Oh, just yep, reach out to my manager, you know, with you. It's like, yep, sweet. That's the butter bean, yeah. It's Dave Latelli, man. It's cool.
Appreciate you, bro. How's how's it going, bro? Really good. Really good. I'm uh Yeah, a couple days out from weighing in. Uh I've I've dropped like most of the weight that I need to uh in order to drop the cut the water weight. Yeah. Um I'm happy, man. I've had a really good camp, uh full twelve week camp this time, which uh, you know, I've never actually done a full twelve week camp before. I'm like I've been boxing uh for like sixteen years, but I've never like applied myself for a full week camp. I even had three weeks leading in where I was like, okay, this is the start point. Okay. Uh but it's I've my my problem has always been like the whole rip, tear, and bust. And you were talking about it just off air.
It was like you just used to train like an idiot, right? Yeah. Yeah. But um well I I prefer a madman. Uh Like a madman. Like a bad thing, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But when you've got like 12 weeks ahead of you and I'm I'm uh quite realistic uh in my Approach to training. I'm like, if I if I go all out too soon, I'll I'll I'll burn out as well, you know? Yeah. So yeah, it's been a really good camp.
Yeah. Over there in uh Gatton. Gatton, yeah. Yeah, Noel Thornberry. Yeah, yeah. They're a fighting family. Yeah, man. It's it's wild. Yeah, really bizarre. 'Cause I did a little bit of work with Noel. Yeah. Oh, he told me that. Yeah, you and Patrick Mylata. Yep. Yeah, yeah, he told me about it. Yeah, 'cause I I actually used to work for Dave Higgins. Like we grew up together and He'd like just try and find shit for me to do. Yeah, like like fight people. Yeah. You know? And yeah, like fight people. And um but he sent me over to sort of sort of um babysit and help um Patrick. Yeah. You know, and I got some work in as well. So that was but that's when I first met an old man, good guy.
Great guy, uh great family. They they just brought me in. I couldn't believe how hospitable they were. And uh now that I'm a part of the family, I really see uh I see that like just teeming out of them.
