Today, Steve is joined by Charlotte O'Hara, one of the Republican candidates to become the next governor of the state of Kansas. She's a former state representative from Johnson County and a former county commissioner. Here's her conversation with Steve.
Well, Charlotte, let's get started here. You have several opponents you're facing in this primary, and among them is Ty Masterson, who's received this endorsement from President Trump. What do you th why do you think you're the right person for the job instead of one of the other candidates on the program?
Okay. Well um My experience, uh like you said, I have served in the Kansas House and and then I also served as a Johnson County Commissioner from twenty twenty one to twenty twenty five. And um I I am bringing business experience because I was a general contractor for over twenty years and my two sons and I have a small manufacturing company in Olatha. I own a couple of industrial buildings. So I'm really I am all hands on deck as far as political experience and business experience, which no one else has. And um actually I the
other candidates, I mean, Scott Schwab is a former state rep, he's secretary of state, Ty Masterson is president of the state Senate, they've got some experience.
Oh, absolutely. They have they have experience, but they don't they're not in in the small they don't have a small business that is that is a working company right now. So I think that my experience both in the business world and the um uh political world is is very important. And I looked at each of these candidates because I'm not I really am not a glutton for punishment.

Despite what some people say. So I looked at at the field and Ty Masterson is the king of tax incentives and I will not go there. Um and then Scott Schwab is the same. And also Scott ordered the destruction of the twenty twenty ballots when criminal investigation, ongoing criminal investigation in twenty twenty four. uh our our uh uh Chris Kobach, he asked that those ballots not be destroyed and uh Scott went ahead and did did destroy them. So that he that was off the list.
I'm not sure I know much about that to to to ask you more about it. Okay,
that's fine. And then um Philip Sarnicky, I actually I've known him for some time and so I had coffee with him at the corner bakery. Um February of tw twenty twenty five and 'cause he wanted me to join his campaign and I said, Well, let's have coffee and we'll talk about it And it kept saying, Oh, Charlotte, all these people are begging me to run, they're begging me to run, they're begging me to run and finally I said, Who? Terry Dunn and Clark Hunt were the two names that uh he he stated. Terry
Dunn owns a big uh construction. And
and they live in the city. Obviously owner of the chiefs, yeah. Right. Both of them are kings of tax incentives.

So um I I didn't even explain. I said, well, Philip, this isn't gonna work. Uh and I said

But you know, you can imagine my shock when after, well, probably like March and especially in April, uh the the Sarnaky campaign suddenly came out anti
