Hello, I'm Stephen Carroll. I'm in Brussels, where many of Europe's biggest decisions get made. And I'm Caroline Hepke in London. We're the hosts of the Bloomberg Daybreak Europe podcast. We're up early every weekday, keeping an eye on what's happening across Europe and around the world. We do it early so the news is fresh, not recycled, and so you know what actually matters as the day gets going. From Brussels, I'm following the politics, policy and the people shaping the European Union right now. And from London, I'm looking at what all that means for markets, money and the wider economy. We've got reporters across Europe and around the globe feeding in as stories break. So whether it's geopolitics, energy, tech or markets, you're hearing it while it happens.
It's smart, calm and to the point. And it fits into your morning. You can find new episodes of the Bloomberg Daybreak Europe podcast by 7am in Dublin or 8am in Brussels, Berlin and Paris on Apple, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.
Welcome to another episode of Bloomberg Intelligence's Vanguards of Healthcare podcast, where we speak with the leaders at the forefront of change in the healthcare industry. My name is Jonathan Palmer, and I'm a healthcare analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, the in-house research arm of Bloomberg. I'm thrilled to welcome Alyssa Jaffe, partner at Seven Wire Ventures, to the program today. She's been a prominent voice in the digital health ecosystem for years, and at Seven Wire, she's at the heart of the firm's informed connected consumer thesis, which is helping to build and scale companies that are rewiring the status quo. She sits on way too many boards for me to mention here. And beyond her investment work, she's a frequent contributor to the industry dialogue and a champion of health equity and women's health.
Alyssa, it's been great to see you in person at a number of different conferences, and I'm so thrilled to have you on the show. Welcome. Thank you. Thank you for having me. It's a pleasure to be here and excited for this discussion today. Well, why don't we just start off in level set? You know, where does Seven Wire sit in the venture community? And at a high level, you know, what is your investment thesis? Yes. So we are a venture capital firm investing in healthcare technology companies under a thesis that we call the informed, connected health consumer. So everything that we do is all about how do we help people to become better stewards of their health? How do we think about healthcare technologies and services meeting people where they are?
And we're quite thematically driven. I'm happy to chat more about the thesis and what this means and why it's so impactful. But we really believe that in health care, in order to drive the biggest impact, the biggest outcomes and the biggest exits, you really have to engage the end consumer. That was a great elevator pitch. Has that always been the thesis from from the firm's early days? Has it shifted at all or evolved? always been our thesis. We were the early pioneers here, I'll say, in a time a decade ago when not many people were talking about healthcare as it relates to people. It's always been our true north. And look, we're an opportunistic fund. We're always looking at and pressure testing the thesis if this is really the right strategy to continue to move forward.
But time and time again, we continue to see why this is so important, not only for the impact that it drives in health, but also for the outcomes that it drives in the financial returns as an investor. So maybe let's do a test case. You know, what's one of the fundamental wins that you've had, you know, through that wins and framework? So, you know, I know you've had my partner, Glenn Fulman, on, who is the founder and was CEO and executive chairman of a business called Labongo. That's probably one of the most notable test cases out there as we think about helping people who started with diabetes and migrated into chronic condition management.
