Welcome, it is Verdict with Center Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you as well. Center, it was one heck of a week. Convention to maybe one of the greatest football games in Texas history. You were there. Uh it was fun to say the least, the big victory, and I do love your little tweets afterwards. Curse what curse. We'll get into that as well, but it was a really exciting week.
All right, so this weekend was simply a spectacular weekend. Th the this I I don't know that it is possible to have more fun than I had this weekend. Uh I was up in Austin for the game between UT and Ohio State. Ohio State came in number one in the nation. UT was number four in the nation. We had lost the last two times we played Ohio State. Uh, and it was incredible. Uh the comeback was unbelievable. I'm gonna walk you guys through it because just being on the ground, the energy uh in the stadium, Daryl K. Royal was was on fire. And and and it was look, the first half was was heartbreaking. Uh the Longhorns played about as bad a football as they could play. It was it was maddening. We we we you know, went into halftime, down twenty three to three.
Yeah. Uh the the opening play is a fumble. Uh the the next drive we have an interception that was a bizarre interception that bounces off the receiver and just kind of wobbles in the air and right into the hands of Ohio State's player. Uh look that whole first half, our receivers were having a really hard time catching. We had a wide open touchdown in the end zone that we dropped. And and Arch Manning, who is one hell of a quarterback, but he was tight, he was throwing high, like it was as rough a half as as you could have in football. Yeah. And then the second half was as good a half as you could have in football. And the second half was a little better than the first half was bad. And like that. You know, twice they went for it on on fourth and long, once once fourth and nine, once fourth and six, made it both times.
I mean, those are are gutsy calls, gutsy plays. Manning played like a man possessed in the second half. He did. A and it was beautiful to watch and and that final drive. Look, the feel in the stadium. You could just feel we're going down the field. We're going down the field. You could f feel the seconds ticking off the clock and the nervousness. Ohio State kept calling timeout 'cause they recognized what was going on. Oh yeah. And and were sitting there at I think it was the one yard line. And we got four downs to punch it in. And and it wasn't every time you're just ticking seconds off the clock. It was spectacular and awesome and and a perfect weekend.
Yeah, you you could yeah, we're gonna get more into that. And plus you get to rush the field, something I've gotten to do once in my life. It is absolutely a blast. We're gonna talk about that as well, plus some other big issues. But before we get to that, I wanna take a moment, I want to talk to you uh about something that just happened in Massachusetts, and most of the country has no idea.
