Which classic franchises did the hosts admit they've never played?

Josh 0:11
Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the Video Gamers Podcast. What's that game you're always embarrassed to tell people that you've never played? What's the one franchise you know if you go, I never played it, people will gasp and say, what? How? Well, on today's episode, we're breaking down our biggest gaming regrets, the franchises and series we just never got around to playing, and why, after all these years, we still have regrets about not experiencing them. Before we get to the shocking reveals, some introductions are in order. I am your host, Josh, and joining me, his list had about 100 entries, but we told him it's not his fault. He was allowed to blame his Destiny addiction for it.
Ryan 1:00
It's Ryan. I hate that there's this eight-year gap of just nothing that Destiny and a few other games took over, but I'm here. I'm here. Let's do this. I'm ready.
Josh 1:12
We're fixing it, Ryan.
Ryan 1:13
We're fixing it, man. We're going to fix it. We're fixing it. Slowly but surely. Yeah.
Josh 1:16
We've been fixing it over the last few, like, what's it been? Almost three years now?
Ryan 1:20
We have. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, man. Over three years. Yeah.
Josh 1:22
I mean, Ryan doesn't love all this fixing going on all the time, but we've at least broadened his gaming. I'm tired, boss. And joining us, he tried to tell us he regrets nothing since most of the ones he could think about were AAA games. And we all know how he feels about those. It's Ace.
Ace 1:44
Guilty as charged, I guess. I had to really scramble to find one. I was like, do I regret missing out on this? Okay, maybe a little bit.
Josh 1:55
Okay. Well, recently you played Red Dead Redemption 2 after refusing to play it for a long, long time. And this isn't an I told you so. But you came away from Red Dead 2 going like, all right.
Ace 2:08
I told you so. I'll say it. I told you so. Oh, you're just going to rub my face. Red Dead 2 is really good. I stole Josh's I told you so really quick.
Josh 2:22
Dude. I know. Cause you know, I was going to do it for a little bit, but that's my, it's not your favorite game. It's my favorite game. So I had to steal it. It's up there for me. I mean, I, yeah. So let me ask you this ace, uh, you know, red dead redemption to widely held as the greatest video game ever made. Is it the greatest video game ever made in your opinion? I think it's probably the most polished video game ever made. I don't think it's the greatest. Okay, that's a fair response. Favorite is different. Everybody has their favorites, which is like, that's a different question than is it the best? You know what I mean? And not to put you on the spot, but what's a game that you think is better than Red Dead 2?
Josh 3:01
Oh, the Red Dead 2? Yeah, not your favorite because, again, we're judging, like, the quality of the game and the impact of the game versus, like, personal preference.
Ryan 3:08
Remember, there's rats in Red Dead 2, dude. Remember.
Josh 3:11
There are rats in Red Dead 2.
Ace 3:13
Ryan Swayne. Oh, man, rats. I would maybe give it to God of War 2018.
Matt Chandler 3:20
Yeah, you told me! Just gameplay-wise.
Ryan 3:27
That's fair Or maybe even like The Last of Us For story and gameplay Because I enjoy both of those I love Last of Us It's hard to say There's a scale and they're all very balanced What a thing though that we have Recently within the last Eight to nine years These games that are upper echelon Of just all time Something that you can always look back to And that is so so good Love it
Josh 3:56
Goodness. 2018. What a year. 2018. We got the two best video games ever made in the same year. Can we ever beat it? I hope so. I hope so. All right. Well, listen, welcome in, everybody. We get segued. You know, it's pretty easy for us at this point. You should be used to it by now. We go where the wind takes us. But, you know, we always have a topic that we try to stick to as well. This one's a fun one. And there may be some people that have been like, haven't you guys kind of sort of talked about some of this before? And it's like, yes, you know. I think topics come up and we kind of go, Hey, what's a game that you never played, right? Or that you wish you had played or something like that. But this episode is more geared towards the franchises and the games that every time like people in our community are talking about something and they ask us and they're like, Josh,
