Welcome to the 100th episode, such a monumental episode. And on my journey, I learned that most podcasts do not last beyond seven episodes. Mind-blowing for me. As I heard that, as I was being a guest for some, they're like, oh, I've only planned 10, and then I'll see what happens.
Dalene (Dalene Higgins) 1:56
And I just think, oh my gosh, why... I guess try something. It's one thing if it doesn't work for you, you don't love it.

What motivated the host to start the Wealthy After 40 podcast and how did the launch happen?

Dalene (Dalene Higgins) 2:03
I get that. But wow, to maybe not take it for one year. I'm excited to still be here. And since the 100th episode is such a monumental episode for most people, There's lots of things people do. As I was approaching it, I'm like, what am I going to do? What am I going to share? How am I going to make it different? I wanted it to just kind of stand out. So it came to me that, especially since I re-shared my personal financial journey story in January, that I'm like, I have never shared my journey as a podcast host. I'm going to share that with you today and a couple of other things. I have a few asks within this episode as listeners, and it's because of you that I'm still here and still going and excited and know that I'm making a difference as I've chatted with many of you on the phone and

and grateful to have that opportunity to get that communication back because that is not what a podcast does. My podcast journey began in April of 2023, probably sooner. I had the thought of So I began entrepreneurship in June of 2022. That was the month after I retired and I became my own boss and doing all the things that entrepreneurs do. And in October of that year, I was like 100%. kind of this little thought, the back of my mind, you should do a podcast. And I immediately like, I wouldn't know where to start. I wouldn't know what to do. I don't know what it takes. Like I hadn't, you know, gone down that road. So I kind of tucked it away. Keep working through all of the other things it takes to run a business, working with different coaches.

And so in February of 2021, Yes, because that's when I started. So in February of 2023, I was working with this wonderful marketing coach. And I actually found her because of her podcast. And she had the experience. And I kind of mentioned, you know, well, I've had the idea. I just don't know what to do. She goes, you want to do it? And I said, yes, let's do it. I've got this help. I've invested in myself. Let's go for it. The first thing she asks is, What, how quickly do you want to release this? And I am thinking, we're talking about it in March. I started working with her in February and March is we're getting a little serious. And I'm like, well, okay, May, like two months. She's like, okay, but I think you could do it quicker.
Dalene (Dalene Higgins) 4:40
And I'm like, I have no idea what it entails. Like we haven't even dived into that. We start checking off the things, what it is I want to call it, what I'm going to talk about, start creating some of the episodes, really getting the vision for it.
