Hi, I'm Holly. I'm the host of Websites Made Simple, the podcast to help website designers and developers to have a happier career without cutting their prices. And this week we are talking all about the ninety nine pound website model. We're not gonna be really strict about it. This could apply to someone who has a hundred and ninety nine pounds a month model, £149 a month model, or people who are doing one off websites for very little money. And this includes a lot of people who will say, oh, but it's only a one pager, I just charged £200 for it, I just charged £300 for it. No, that ends here today. Because if this was your friend or your partner or someone else who you really value, and they told you that they were charging that much for a website, you would be saying to them, what the hell are you doing?

How many clients do you need to earn a sustainable income at £99 per month?

Holly Christie 2:41
Doing, how can you live off that? And as your website mentor, I am going to say that if you are thinking of this model, no, what the hell are you doing? You're not going to be able to make a good, sustainable living out of it. And here are the reasons why. To make this model work, you would need such a sheer huge volume of clients to be able to. You actually get a really good income. And by a good income, we're talking about 3,000, 5,000, 8,000, 10,000 pounds a month, whatever it is that you are looking to make from your business. If you think at 99 pounds a month, let's round it off to 100, have an even number. If you wanted to bring home 3,000 pounds a month, you're going to have to have 30 clients to do that.
Holly Christie 3:29
And trust me, Trying to sign up 30 clients is no mean feat. And there is also that thought where people think if something is too good to be true or it's too cheap, they don't trust it. And trust me, as in in my earlier days when I charged less prices, I quoted for projects still into the thousands. and lost the project because they said actually it sounds too cheap. So people who are looking for ninety-nine pounds a month websites, they kind of know what it is they're getting. They are not going to be thinking I'm getting an amazing website for this. And the first thing we really want to do is we want to work with clients who believe in us and believe in the product that we're producing for them. I've spoken over again in this podcast about how we do not want people who are saying, Oh, it's only a shop front.
