Hello future newcomers and welcome to your Canadian PrepZone. You're listening to episode number one and it is recorded in May 2025.

Who is Emma Charlin and what is her background in international mobility?

Emma Charlin 0:41
I'm Emma Charlin, your host and your international mobility coach. I'm here to help you prepare, plan and thrive in your move to Canada. In this short episode, I'm going to do two things. Introduce myself and tell you what you can expect from this podcast. I am an international mobility coach who helps families and individuals move to Canada. I'm also the author of several practical guides about Canada. I have two podcasts about moving to Canada, this one in English and another one in French called Bienvenue au Canada. Bienvenue au Canada is also the name of my website.

What personal immigrant experience does Emma share about moving to Canada?

Emma Charlin 1:22
On this site, you will find articles in English as well as information about my coaching services. But let's get back to my background. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in France, in Europe. I spent much of my career in Paris, 10 years in Human Resources, in 5 years in Financial Management Control. And yes, in Human Resources, I was already involved in international mobility.

What will this podcast cover and who is it for?

Emma Charlin 1:51
My husband was transferred to Canada in 2017. We left France with our three children, who were seven, five, and two years old at the time. We are living in Ontario, between Toronto and Niagara Falls. My husband and I were first temporary workers, then we became permanent residents, and we are now proud Canadians.

What episode formats and topics can listeners expect (solo, interviews, mindset)?

Emma Charlin 2:16
As you can probably tell listening to me on the podcast, English is not my first language, so please, please, please forgive me in advance if I sometimes mispronounce words or if my sentence structure is not the best. My English is not perfect, I know, but you'll get the right information and that's what matters. Now, I would like to tell you more about this podcast, Welcome to Canada. I'll be bringing you information and interviews about immigration and life in Canada. In my solo episodes, I'll get on the mic and talk to you about a specific topic.

How can listeners support the show and access Emma's resources?

Emma Charlin 2:55
For example, immigration, housing, health, education, banking in Canada, etc. These episodes will be full of practical and actionable information. Sometimes I will also do mindset episodes where I'll teach you how to overcome your limiting beliefs and move forward. In my interview episodes, I will invite experts or newcomers onto the show. They will give you practical advice or feedback to help you prepare for your new life in your new country. The podcast will be released every two weeks. In short, if you want to move to Canada, you have come to the right place. Talk to you soon! And that's it for today. Thank you for listening until the end. If you enjoyed the episode, please subscribe to the podcast, give it many stars and leave a comment.
