I'm here to help you prepare, plan and thrive in your move to Canada. Today I'm going to talk to you about luck, hard work and perseverance.
How does luck factor into the decision to move to Canada?
I want to start with this sentence I too often hear. How lucky they are to move to Canada. Yes, there is an element of luck in life, for sure. I was born healthy.
What personal luck examples illustrate immigration advantages and limits?
I was born into a loving family. I was born in a country that gave me a passport that makes things easy for me when I travel. Not everyone can say the same. I am lucky. Many were as lucky as I was and some were even luckier than I was. But not everyone was able to come to Canada because another factor came into play or rather to work and perseverance. You cannot build your life on luck. That would make you reliant on something you cannot control. If I play the lottery and I'm lucky, I win. If I play the lottery and I am unlucky, I lose. Whether I want to be lucky or not has no effect on the results. It's not up to me. You don't control luck. But you can control other factors such as work and perseverance.
Why can't you rely on luck alone to immigrate to Canada?
Those factors are up to you. They are within your control. You either work or you don't. When there are difficulties, you either persevere or you don't.
How did successful Express Entry candidates prepare before getting 'lucky'?
It's your choice. And some would even say it's your responsibility. To go to Canada, you can't just rely on luck. To go to Canada, you also have to rely on your work and perseverance. In the Express Entry program, yes, some candidates are lucky. They are quickly pulled from the pool and invited to apply for permanent residence. But these candidates took the initiative. They gathered information, they took their language tests, they had their diplomas evaluated, They prepared their proof of funds. They were patient and they persevered even when it was complicated. Luck played a role for sure, but hard work and perseverance were also key. It made them ready so that when the opportunity came, they could grab it.

It's too easy to say, yeah, they were lucky to go to Canada. I'm not that lucky. It's too easy, because if you say that, you can use it as an excuse, complain, and do nothing. You were not selected from the express entry pool. Okay, it's disappointing. Take the blow, take a deep breath, but then start over again. If you really want to go to Canada, it's your responsibility to find other options. If you don't have the required number of points for Express Entry, the provincial nominee program may be more suitable for you. If you don't have the right budget for Express Entry, the Atlantic Immigration program may be more suitable for you. I am not an immigration lawyer or a regulated immigration consultant.
