It was Halloween time. And they were asking me about a pumpkin that was stolen off a neighbor's porch. And I was being accused of stealing a pumpkin I never stole. And with that, I ended up having to go to court. The people pressed charges on me for this over a pumpkin. And it was a big pumpkin. I mean, you should see. I mean, there's no way I was picking this pumpkin.

And I never got, I never spent time with him because I really didn't know who he was. And somehow he linked back up with my mother and she said, hey, I want you to spend some time with Chris or whatever. And he did. And it was that weekend. And when it came down to the cops coming to the house, stealing the pumpkin and everything, I didn't have the support.
She didn't back me up. I don't know if it was fear. I don't know what it was from her, but there was no support saying, no, he was with his father. It just never happened. And with that, it put me in the criminal system, I guess you would call it. And at that time in New Jersey, in Phillipsburg, they had a curfew. I think it was around 10 o'clock. And Phillipsburg, New Jersey, at the time, it was a... Wasn't that big of a town. It was a decent sized town, but it wasn't a big town back then. It was just a blue collar town. You know, we had industry and stuff like that then. And a lot of people knew each other. One way or the other, everybody knew each other. And with that pumpkin, the cops got to know me. They knew who I was, where I lived.
So there was a lot of times I would get picked up after curfew. Like either I was coming from a friend's house or I was just being a kid. It's 10 o'clock at night. It's really not that late. But they would pick me up. And every time they would pick me up, they would let my probation officer know that they picked me up. So that would start putting check marks for probation violations. And I ended up having to go back to court a little later because of the probation violations. And that's where I started getting a little bit more in trouble with having to go into Warren Acres. Warren Acres at the time was a detention center in Warren County, New Jersey for juveniles. And with the probation violations, they sentenced me to Warren Acres.
It was like, I think the first time was like 30 days to be on Warren Acres. And that's where it put me in contact with the sheriff of Warren County, New Jersey. And his name was Sheriff Edward Bullock. I never stole a pumpkin. And this is where I met the devil. Sheriff Bullock was the devil.
