Send us a textEP 15 PRESERVING FAMILY LEGACY ONE RECIPE AT A TIME Randy Lau (@MADEWITHLAU) - CHINESE AMERICAN Randy is a Chinese American (SF Native) that is UCLA educated with an Engineering background that ended up working with many different start-ups. He started Made With Lau YouTube channel in September of 2020 and has over 10000+ subscribers and over 100000+ views. The channel focuses on showcasing Chinese food recipes of Randy’s dad who had been a chef for over 50 years. The videos are filmed, edited, produced by Randy himself with his Dad being the main person doing the cooking and explaining of the recipe and food, his mom being there for additional commentary, and his wife and his baby son joining the whole family at the end for a family conversation and to eat the food that was made during the video together. In this episode, Randy and I talked about his upbringing, his journey as a Chinese American, his relationship with his family, how he plans to raise his son in America given his Diaspora Asian identity, his journey so far with the channel, his plans for the channel, and his favorite dishes that they have made on the channel so far. Last, we talked about why he started the channel in the first place and what are the biggest things he has gotten from doing this channel and also from reconnecting with his family on a deeper level through doing this and also further conversations with them now that Randy also has a young son as well.
