I was at the game and thinking about the game and the permutations, but so much rides on the result. You know, we had four covers ready to go, depending on how many finals, four separate player profile sections, and then two get discarded. But I did have brief thoughts that I'd be editing a Hawthorne Grand Final record, which would have been a joy.
My favourite image is Kylie Minogue singing at the Fitzroy fundraiser all these years ago. You can't have favourite children, but of course we all do. What is your favourite story on the record?

At our disposal, Gerard, he's done a piece about the sliding doors moment in 1956, how close the Olympics were to getting to Carlton, to Princess Park, and speculating what that would have meant for the MCG's future and what that would have meant for VFL Park, a venue that you and I both loved going to very much, and Marvel Stadium, the Shane Warne stand. These are souvenir editions, Ash. There's a shelf in my office that's got them all lined up. And I keep the one that I end up marking. So it's got the scores and the flow of the day inside. So it's a great service that you provide to our footy community.
Yeah, to see so many people walking to the MCG and leaving with their record class in their hand. We sell a lot on Grand Final Day, a lot more than we do for any other edition of the year. It's a really important part of the day and the interest people take in the lead up to where they can buy it and what's in it and the great feedback we almost always get afterwards. We like to think we're a small and important part of Grand Final Day.
How does the AFL Record contribute to Grand Final Day traditions and sales across stores?
It's part of the tradition of being there. And people, of course, can buy it now in shops and supermarkets, Coles, Woolies. And if you're not getting to the game, it doesn't mean you can't have a copy of the record, of course.
