Give us a little picture as when you did the assessment of well, how close you were last year, how has it fueled you for what's to come this season?
How did injuries and a young squad affect City’s campaign and missed finals?
Yeah, we we yeah it was interesting last year 'cause we we sort of uh struggled a little bit in the middle part of the season with with injuries and had to play a very young team and when players started coming back towards the end of the season I think we had a really good run and in the end missed out on penalties against the ultimate winner, uh, Auckland away from home and the game that we probably should have won. So uh we were there or thereabouts, uh even though we didn't make the grand final and I think uh whilst we've lost a few players from last season we've definitely strengthened in that in the front third, which was probably our area of weakness where we couldn't quite score enough goals to sometimes get over the line.
Um so we've we've strengthened that front third and we're we're really um Really uh bored by the the the recruits we we brought in and uh and the difference they could make uh to our taking progress, I suppose.
Give us a picture of those signings, Michael, because there's a Socaroo and then there are signings from all around the world.
Which new front‑three signings will boost City’s goal‑scoring for 2024‑25?
Yeah, of course and I I think probably the one that people will know uh more uh easily will be O Mobile who who's um thirty nine games for the Socceros and was at the recent World Cup. So he's decided to come back to Australia and we're pleased to to have him here. He he's um a player he's played three hundred uh senior games of professional footballer uh football in Europe and uh has a wealth of experience and still physically at the top of his his game, uh super player in terms of getting forward, will s you know get the the assist across in and able scoring goals himself and yeah, really exciting player. I think the fans will will love Aware and he's a he's an infectious type of character as well.
So and and he's brought a lot of the positives to to the group. Um the other players uh Emiliano Marcondes who's uh we signed from Norwich, uh played in the championship last year. No, Emiliano's uh again he's he's a player who's played, you know, close to three hundred professional senior games in Europe. Um, played in the Premier League.
What experience do Oumar Moyé, Emiliano Marcondes and other imports bring to the team?
uh a number ten, so a really attacking type midfielder who who will provide a lot of opportunities for our our front three and probably hopefully ch Chip in I think himself with with some goals. Uh so those two particularly in the front third, uh, with the experience they bring in and the type of players they are will make a big difference and then we I I suppose up the other end of the scale we've we've signed a a really young, exciting player from Brisbane Roar. He's only eighteen, Quinn McNichol. He's also an attacking midfielder capable of scoring goals, uh, under seventeen and under twenty international for Australia. Uh made his debut at Brisbane Roe in the A League at only fifteen years of age and we're really excited by what Quinn would bring to the group as well.
So they're the probably the three most attacking players and then to compliment and then we've brought in a couple of um other players, Mateus Rosetto, uh who's had a great career in Brazil and also in the MLS. uh with Atlanta is
Who are the young Australian talents added to the squad and what impact could they have?
played over two hundred senior games, he's uh more uh I suppose defensive midfielder but a player who can set up play for us and suits the way we want to play. Uh and then recently Julio. Cascante, Costa Rican International, and he played for Costa Rica only last November, the international level level. Played in Costa Rica for the top team there and and has a has a had a great career in the in the MLS, uh playing more recently with uh with Austin and previously with with uh Portland Timbers.
