Fucking hell. Should I go again? Yeah. Okay. Okay. Hey guys, welcome. Hey guys, hello and welcome to a special listener questions episode of the podcast that you're listening to, which is The Wolf and Al. So what is a listener's episode, Rob? What does it mean?

Tell the viewers stroke listeners. Yeah, it's just the email app. Okay, good.

0

44.925 - 46.849 Tom Davis

This is our first email. Boom!

0

Oh, it's anonymous.

This is anonymous. Okay.

50.615 - 55.142 Tom Davis

First off, thank you so much for the message, first of all, to the person.

0

55.703 - 56.785 Romesh Ranganathan

Oh, thank you for writing in.

0

56.985 - 61.953 Tom Davis

Yeah. First off, I'm a big fan of the pod, and although I was late to the party, it's quickly become my favourite.

Chapter 6: How do Tom and Romesh define life FOMO?

62.474 - 67.685 Tom Davis

I'm hoping you can give me some advice on an issue I'm having with my father-in-law. It's a difficult one, isn't it? Tricky.

0

68.085 - 69.086 Romesh Ranganathan

Well, we don't know what the problem is.

0

69.106 - 87.682 Tom Davis

Well, and father-in-law is difficult. You know it's going to be difficult. Not always. Okay. Sometimes I can be a delicious human being. My wife and I are both in our mid-40s. I have two daughters aged 12 and 14 from a previous marriage. And my wife and I have a three-year-old son and we'll be adding another daughter in the spring. Congratulations. I'm not a typical male.

0

88.163 - 93.628 Tom Davis

I don't care about sports. But my father-in-law is a massive sports fan and raised five sons who all played hockey. Wow.

0

Chapter 7: What advice do Tom and Romesh give about managing relationships with in-laws?

93.928 - 102.002 Tom Davis

That's going to be difficult, isn't it? Like going round there is going to be tricky, right? Well, if they're talking about hockey, it's a long day. Well, no, but what I'm saying is they're all sporty, sporty alphas.

0

102.363 - 115.181 Romesh Ranganathan

Yeah. And then you turn up as a bit of a kind of non-sporty. By the way, can I just say, I don't necessarily, I think hockey is a really great sport. I think it's brilliant. But I don't think it's necessarily an alpha, alpha. Like if they were all rugby players, for example, then you're in for a long day. Okay, fine.

0

Chapter 8: What are the implications of having a special guest on the podcast?

115.201 - 118.665 Tom Davis

But being sporty lends itself to alphaness, doesn't it? Yeah, if you're good at stuff.

0

118.685 - 121.99 Romesh Ranganathan

You're good at sports. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But also, you can get alphas who aren't good at sports.

0

122.172 - 131.085 Tom Davis

Yeah, true. But if you're good at sports... If you're good at sports, you have a cocky walk. You're more alpha adjacent. Because you've always... You're better coordinated, you know, all that shit.

0

131.105 - 134.23 Romesh Ranganathan

But also, you've always been sort of high social status.

0

134.25 - 152.235 Tom Davis

Yeah, if somebody kicks a ball to you in the park, you don't shit yourself. No. There's a point I'm trying to make. Yeah. My son has quite long and slightly curly hair, which I love. On a recent visit, my father-in-law began commenting that it was too long and needed cutting because he's a boy. Oh. He's since said this again while my son was on a video call.

153.256 - 169.831 Tom Davis

I'm not okay with negative comments about my children's appearance when they can hear it. I'm not okay with people's comments about my children's appearance regardless. I'm personally offended as my own hair is long and I'm deeply uncomfortable with this casual sexism, especially with another daughter on the way. I don't know how to handle this, how to even broach the subject with my wife.

170.512 - 177.458 Tom Davis

Please look into your sweet, sweet souls and give me some advice. How do you draw boundaries? Okay.

177.843 - 193.973 Romesh Ranganathan

I mean, I think he's overstepped the mark massively here. I think number one, I would arguably say, one of the greatest sportsmen that we've had in this country has had some very cool hairstyles.

193.993 - 195.295 Unknown

Who are you talking about? David Beckham.
