Last week, three ranchers from three very different operations answered one simple question. If you had fifty thousand dollars to invest or deploy in your ranch today, where would you put it? And the answers ranged from infrastructure and diversification to building strong businesses designed to survive the next downturn. Today it's part two. As that conversation shifts, what's the worst way to spend that money? When does equipment actually have a good thing? Actually makes sense. Should producers be paying down debt right now or keeping cash available for opportunity? And how are ranchers beginning to use technology and AI to make faster and better business decisions?
Investing in overheads that you don't need for a business and we actually we've never taken the time to run the margins on it. When we do run the margins on it, we figure out that it that it's terrible. It's a money loser in our business.
But the conversation quickly turned into something much bigger than simply buying or not buying equipment. Because for today's rancher, the real question may be this how do you use capital in a way that actually moves your business forward?
