Leigh Campbell 0:08
Hello and welcome to YouBeauty, the show for your face, hair and bathroom cabinet. I'm Leigh Campbell.
Kelly McCarran 0:13
And I'm Kelly McCarran. And I'm a little bit less mushroomy this week, Leigh. Yes. Because I smoothed my own hair out. I still don't have the wingspan to get a curl in, but I was able to smooth it out this morning.
Leigh Campbell 0:27
I can't stop laughing about it. I've been laughing all week. Anyone that didn't catch last week's episode or didn't watch, Kelly had recently had some surgery and couldn't lift her arms very high at all. And she asked me to give her a hairstyle and I made her beautiful and she didn't call me this morning.
Kelly McCarran 0:41
Yeah, it was a beautiful blowout. Speaking of hair though, you have gone a little bit shorter. I have. You cut your split ends, finally.
Leigh Campbell 0:50
Yeah, but they had split ends and they had split ends and you know how it just gets so wispy down to like nothing? healthy hair the gentleman I went to that's a bit of a story but he said oh have you had razor ring like like that and I was like oh no it's just a year so I love my hairdresser but I just needed to fit this in and I just didn't have time to you know wait and drive far away and so I just walked into the mall you know just to the local shops I went to a barber there was a barber sitting there by himself with no customers and I thought well this is gonna be a good haircut I showed him an old photo and I just said, look, see where it kind of the thickness is and then it tapers off. And then I figured if he bucketed it up, I could just go shorter.
Leigh Campbell 1:24
I just always think that. I love that. I think that people overthink their haircuts too much. Unless you've got something really technical. Totally, but also I didn't even know if I could go to a barber. I mean, I know that sounds so weird, but, like, I didn't know if a barber would say yes to me. But he didn't wash my hair. He literally just chop, chop, chop. I was probably 15 minutes.
Kelly McCarran 1:42
My friend couldn't get in at a hairdresser once and she was running around with her curling wand. She needed someone to curl her hair. You've done that before. No, she's a lunatic. She ran into a barber and was like, can you curl my hair? And he was like, can you show me how to use the curler? Oh, my God. And she made a new friend. You should have just found someone on the street. Basically, except it was a barber, but she was like, you know what?
Leigh Campbell 2:02
He slayed it after he learned how to do it. So did my lonesome barber that looked like he hadn't had anyone in there since the 80s. Anyway, so on the show today, two wonderful questions. What's up first?
Kelly McCarran 2:12
Well, we've got a question that we had from a lot of Yubies about the ingredient volufoline, which you probably have seen everywhere.
Leigh Campbell 2:20
You mentioned it last week. I think they were all waiting with bated breath. And then we're talking about hands and how to make them not as crusty as mine. Okay.
Kelly McCarran 2:27
And then later on in the show, we're going to do our spendy, savey and MVPs. Let's start things off before all of that goodness with what's happening in the wonderful wide world of beauty with Beauty News.
Leigh Campbell 2:40
Okay, Leigh, iMaxing is everywhere, so let's talk about it. Oh, my gosh, I loved iMax. You used to get those goggles and you would sit right back at that huge cinema.
Kelly McCarran 2:48
That's the iMax. i, that was a big cinema.
Leigh Campbell 2:52
Like an iPhone.
Kelly McCarran 2:53
iMax, like you're maxing your eyes. You know how people on the internet love to say, like, looks maxing or hacking and everything's about maxing? Yeah, it can't be, like, minimal.
Leigh Campbell 3:03
Who wants that?
Kelly McCarran 3:04
No, no. So iMaxing is the latest social media friendly term that's, like, being thrown all over the internet. And it's basically just a new, fun way to say that you're doing your eye makeup. But obviously, get ready with me while I IMAX sounds a lot more fun and clicky than get ready with me while I do my eye makeup. Okay.
Leigh Campbell 3:28
And is it color related? Because I feel like it would be like making your eyes pop the color. Yes. Okay. I like that.
Kelly McCarran 3:34
It's the general, it is basically the general makeup rules that people have been following for eons and for as long as time has gone on.
