Maura Winkler founded Fika Midwifery in Buffalo NY,  in 2017 and is now the Director of Midwifery at The Coit House, the only midwifery-led, CABC-accredited birth center in New York State.    Originally from Buffalo, New York,  Maura Winkler moved to Chicago to pursue a medical degree. She quickly discovered that the medical model of care did not match her personal values and philosophies.    Maura is a certified nurse midwife who believes strongly in the midwifery model of care–namely that pregnant and birthing people and their healthcare team are shared decision-makers.
