Your Greek Word On A Sunday

Episode 195: Schedule

08 Jan 2023

Description

(Intro & piano music)Any New Year's resolutions yet? Well, in Ancient Greek, 'Σχέδη' (Schedi) meant papyrus leaf-also known as writing material-. In modern , it means both plan and sketch. The outline of something, the general plan for the future or the full-on, laid-out plan for life. In English it came from the French 'Cedule' and it meant 'slips of paper attached to a document as an appendix', until the 1800's where it was used as the modern Greek one.
