Your Greek Word On A Sunday

Episode 201:Pentagon

19 Feb 2023

Description

(Intro & piano music)What do Okras, Euclid, and a south Korean boy band have in common? Well, πέντε (pendae) in Greek means 'five' and γωνία (gonia) means 'corner'. The combined word was given to this geometric shape by Euclid around 300BC . It's the shape of most starfish, the top of okras, the military headquarters in the US and the name of that South Korean boy band.
