Μέλι (meli) in Greek means 'Honey' and an 'apple' in ancient Greek was μέλον (melon), Yes ,yes that's a whole other episode. Μέλιμελον (melimelon) was a 'sweet apple' and coming to Latin, a paste made from apples was named Melimelum.
