See you in the Autumn everyone! On with our myth! Oh yes, it's a myth! (Intro & piano music)When the Earth and the Sky, or in Greek mythology Gaia and Uranus, gave birth to the Titans, the strongest of them was the great water that surrounded the globe. He stayed out of the Titan war, married his sister Τίθυς (Tithys) and from them, all entities came to be, including the Gods . Their union was so fruitful that floods became a real danger and they had to split so the world could be saved. The word passed into Latin and kept its meaning 'Mare Oceanus' until the late 1600's As explorers started mapping the world, the names of different seas came to be, but his name stayed.
