話題のきっかけになったのは、イチカワの読んだ隈研吾の『日本の建築』という書籍。この本の中では和の大家として人から呼ばれるようになってきた隈が、それに抗うように過去の建築をどのように扱えばいいのか手本を示しています。単純な言葉の中に過去の建築を押し込めて固定化するのではなく、日本建築の持つ多様な要素がどのように分析・解釈されて利用されてきたかを示していたり、それを実際に行うデザイナーを取り巻く状況、精神状態からも分析されていてます。読んでてこれはファッションにおいても有効な方法だなと思いました。例えばイッセイミヤケがプリーツを発案した時に、どんな社会状況だったのか、他のデザイナーは何をしていたのか。僕達はそれをどの様に解釈したら新しい知見が得られるのか。それを試してみたいと思いながらの雑談回です。
