Outbreak of Locally Acquired Mosquito-Transmitted (Autochthonous) Malaria — Florida and Texas, May–July 2023CitationMMWR Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, 2023; 72(36): 973–978概要2023年5月から7月にかけて、フロリダ州（7例）およびテキサス州（1例）で、旅行歴や他のリスク因子のない成人に対し、自家媒介（蚊媒介）によるマラリアが報告された。全例は狼瘡熱原虫（Plasmodium vivax）感染であり、いずれの患者も重症化せず完全回復した。公衆衛生当局は即座に症例監視、蚊の捕獲および防除、地域住民への周知啓発を展開。多くの蚊（Anopheles属）からP. vivax DNAが検出されたが、感染可能な個体（sporozoite陽性）は確認されなかった。この事象は、米国本土で1970年代の根絶以降初の限定的流行であり、医療従事者が説明困難な発熱症例にマラリアを念頭に置き、迅速に対応を取る必要を示すものである。なお、国民のマラリア予防接種などに関する保健指導の見直しも再検討の対象となりうる。
