今回のテーマは、 『アイヌの口承文芸』。口承文芸とは、文字ではなく、口頭で伝承する文芸のこと。かつて文字を持たなかったアイヌの人たちは、物語を口伝えに伝承することによって、民族が持つ大切な価値観や世界観を伝えてきました。そして、アイヌの人たちが語り合い、紡いできた、その言葉と物語は、今から、およそ100年前、言語学者でアイヌ語の研究者 金田一京助と才能あふれるアイヌの少女 知里幸恵の出会いによって、広く知られることになります。今回から3回にわたって、アイヌ文化の担い手を育成する札幌大学 教授 本田優子さんに 「アイヌの口承文芸」 について伺います。
