「電子書籍」とは、紙に印刷された本ではなく、パソコンやスマートフォン、タブレットなどの画面で読む本のこと。そして、電子書籍を出版することを「デジタル出版」と言います。電子書籍の市場規模は、2022年に5000億円を超え、今後さらなる成長が期待されています。北海道では2011年に、いち早く、札幌市内の出版社や雑誌社が参加して、電子図書館実証実験をスタート。さらに、2013年、一般社団法人 北海道デジタル出版推進協会が設立され、今では、北海道の地域性を生かした数多くの電子書籍が出版されています。前回に引き続き、今週も、北海道デジタル出版推進協会 代表理事で中西出版株式会社 代表取締役の林下英二さんに「北海道の電子書籍」について伺います。
