董志勇曾经尝试过把每段楼梯的宽度增加，使其前端比后端高出一些距离，这样人在跨越每一级台阶的时候是在下楼，而走在台阶上的时候，又恢复了一定的高度，从而制造出是在一直下楼的假象。但是在我们的实际测试中，这种小把戏是非常容易被识破的，即便是加入了视觉误差和黑暗环境这种设定，人类的前庭系统和触觉系统也很容易将其破解，这种设计无疑是拉低了建造者和读者的智商。而且彭罗斯阶梯在三维空间中是不可能实现的，这是已经被科学家证明的事实。
