若然參考一下從古時流傳落嚟嘅胸像，我哋就能夠知道蘇格拉底嘅樣——一個禿頭、面圓圓、突眼、扁鼻嘅樣，大概，你都唔會稱之為靚仔，甚至會話佢有啲樣衰。呢位相貌不凡嘅哲學家，係當時雅典青年最鍾意嘅導師。雖然佢係最出名嘅西方哲學家，但老實講，我哋對佢嘅認識唔多，總之，相比起有貴族氣派嘅柏拉圖，同具學者風範嘅亞里士多德，蘇格拉底總有種親切嘅感覺。無人知道佢係靠住乜嘢過日子，佢大概無工作過，亦都唔擔心聽日嘅生計，對於佢嘅妻子贊西佩（Xanthippe）嚟講，蘇格拉底可能只係一個遊手好閒、無出息嘅老公。 當然，蘇格拉底並唔係完全無嘢做。二千年前嘅雅典，總係有一個笨拙嘅身影從廣場漫步，著住同一件短袖束腰外衣，佢會走向青年，將青年帶到去神殿門廊嘅陰涼角落，要求佢哋定義自己所用嘅語詞。 跟住佢嘅青年，都有住唔同嘅熱情。有人會好似柏拉圖同阿爾西比亞德斯咁，學習老師用諷刺去分析雅典民主，有人會好似安提斯泰尼（Antisthenes）咁，企圖學習老師面對貧窮嘅態度，提出古希臘版嘅社會主義，有人會好似亞里士底布斯（Aristippus）咁，提出古希臘版嘅無政府主義，渴望一個無主人、無奴隸嘅世界。喺呢個小團體，經常都會出現激烈辯論，思索種種學問。 點解青年都愛好蘇格拉底呢？……
