To Sell Is Human（《人性就是销售》）是一本2012年出版的老书，但现在读起来还是很有意思。这本书的基本观点是：我们都是推销员。1/9的美国人具体的工作就是销售，另外一大半人每天要花大量时间说服、影响和推动他人的行为、思想或是认知，这也是广义上的销售：non-sell sales（不销售的推销）。书里用了一个说法来定义这种广义的销售：moving others（推动）。 推动能力对于现代人来说是一种元技能了。想想你能想到的岗位和工作，不需要这种能力的很少，更不要说互联网的数字时代，推动他人的媒介越来越多样化（抖音）。不过，具体应该怎样提升推动他人的能力呢？ 这本书列出了大量的案例故事和研究，但遗憾的是它只是罗列了众多的信息，并没有针对某个领域深入讨论，这一点，不如我曾经推荐过的《影响力》，也不如那本专门讲“如何安利”的 Perfect Pitch。这也是这本书并不如Daniel的另外两本畅销书 When 和 Drive 的原因。 不过，这本书最大的价值，就在于列出了很多值得自己去深入了解的信息，它更像是一本导读，提供了很多有价值的线索，提炼出几条可以深入的信息，这本书也就值回票价了。 Love the stories in this book, especially the empty chair of Amazon. Found a lot of useful tips help me understand how business works, and to set up a strategy about moving others. Don't like the fact-listing structure of the book. It's not as good as the other book (When and Drive) that Daniel wrote, but still a great reading experience. Do believe that the skill of moving others is essential for us, especially in the digital age.
