Good morning, everybody. Today is June 16, 2026. Welcome to the Broward County Commission meeting. And we're going to go through the Pledge of Allegiance. Everyone, everybody, please rise. And I'm going to have, because this is one of the last few meetings he'll be here, I'm going to have Mr. Myers. And then, no, he's here until November. And Mr. Myers, lead us into the Pledge of Allegiance. I'm leaving, too. Slow down. Slow down.
Mayor (Drew or Mayor presiding) - Likely County Mayor (Unknown exact name) 13:25
Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Mr. Myers, that was incredible, the way you led everybody. You know, it was incredible. Thank you. Ladies and gentlemen, it's customary we reserve a modem of silence and honor all notable persons from our community who have recently passed. I'm going to go around the dais, see if you want to honor anybody. Anybody? Okay. I'm sorry? Okay, Commissioner Davis and Commissioner Rogers, are you on the phone? Going once?
Commissioner (on the phone) - Unknown 14:01
I'm on the phone. I'm on the phone. Can you hear me?
Mayor (Drew or Mayor presiding) - Likely County Mayor (Unknown exact name) 14:04
Yes, we can hear you. Okay. If you want to interject at all, just let me know. If you want to recognize anybody. Otherwise... We're going to let us also honor all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces, both here and abroad, and thank them for their service. Pause for a moment of silence. Thank you. Can you please take your seats?
Mayor (Drew or Mayor presiding) - Likely County Mayor (Unknown exact name) 14:41
We got a very hopefully a very short regular agenda here, and I wanted to first get some some General counsel We need to identify our canvassing board representative for the summer primary in a special plantation election the county attorney informs me that the mayor is the county Commission's representative on the canvassing board Unless the mayor is unable to serve Since I am unable to serve under administrative code the role passes automatically to the vice mayor if he's able to serve vice mayor Can you serve? Yes, I can Okay, the county attorney also informs me that I should appoint and I'll turn alternate member or members. Is anyone willing to volunteer? I'll be an alternate you'll be an alternate.
Mayor (Drew or Mayor presiding) - Likely County Mayor (Unknown exact name) 15:34
Okay We give me two of them Yeah, two. Can we have two alternates, council? Yes, sir. Do we go for three? No, you can't. Maybe the whole board. OK, so I'm going to recognize Lamar Fisher and Michael Udine as alternate members on the canvassing board. OK, that business is done, right? Good job. Was that a really good script? Did I do the script well? Perfect. OK, great. You literally made it through with the script. I want to take literally 60 seconds. They have some pictures for when we went to Japan and Taiwan. We signed our first agreement. And then the whole goal is to see about monetizing the agreement. And I'll know in a couple months how we can monetize the agreement with our business community. And I was signing an agreement with the mayor of Penggang County in Taiwan, Taiwan being our fourth largest trading partner.
Mayor (Drew or Mayor presiding) - Likely County Mayor (Unknown exact name) 16:38
And do we have those quick pictures? Because they're not. My best pictures. Mike? They're up there. Oh, they're up there. Okay. There's one. Keep going. Scroll it. Go. Next. Next. Next. Next. And then we gave the key to the county. And I think it's – and hold it. The gentleman in the middle is from the State Department. I don't know who invited him, but the State Department. And then we had some other people from sister cities and from Florida that came there. But otherwise – Again, I talked with Sandy Michael McDonald. I think we're on the same page, and we're going to see how we can monetize this so we show that we're helping our business community. And I'll get back on August on that.
