So we begin our meeting with an invocation as an expression and inspiration, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The invocation by a council member is intended to underscore our proceedings. And we celebrate the religious diversity of our community, including those without a religious faith. And this evening is my turn to provide the invocation. And so I'd like to share some thoughts with us all. I've been in the community and speaking to a lot of residents and a lot of my friends throughout the country. sense of unsettlingness. And I feel that there's a lot of intensity these days that a lot of our residents are dealing with in addition to everything that's going on in the city and their lives.

And during these times when there's high anxiety, I firmly believe that it is a moment for all of us to just take a moment to ground ourselves in our faith and what we believe our personal inner constitution is and why we are here and what we do. And so I hope that all of us are taking that moment to exhale and be connected to the creator or whatever divine figure you believe in, whatever religious faith you have, but take a moment to exhale and be connected to what grounds you and what you know will help see you through not only these days, but days to come and days that are behind us. And that's my prayer for all of us as we begin this evening. Thank you. If you are able to stand, please join us with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Excellent. So I'm just going to provide an explanation of our zoning process and we'll get started. The process begins with applications submitted to our planning staff for review and cases come in two types that are on our agenda tonight. We have decisions and we also have hearings. Decisions are on cases for which a public hearing was previously held and therefore there's no public hearing. comment this evening on those cases. And then the hearings for anyone wishing to speak for a particular petition that has a hearing this evening, we ask that you see the clerk before the start of that particular hearing. Staff will have a presentation and there is no time limit for the presentation for staff. And the petitioner for the hearing, for those

who are in favor, they will receive six minutes combined to present their case, unless there are two things that occur. One is there are opponents that are signed up to speak against that particular petition, or if staff is in opposition of the petition, the petitioner will get 10 minutes, the opponent will get 10 minutes combined, and then the petitioner will have a two-minute rebuttal. If no one is opposed or no one is signed to speak against that particular petition, then staff proceeds with the short presentation and the public hearing is closed and we move on to the next public hearing. The petitions go to our Zoning Committee of Planning Commission for review prior to this evening and for recommendation.

First, to introduce my fellow Commission members here this evening, we have Rick Winokur, Aaron Shaw, and Shauna Neely, as well as a few tuning in virtually as well.
