Good evening, Renee Johnson and I'm honored to represent District Four. Good evening. This is Twin Around representing Charlotte City Council District 3 and JCSU, of course. Come on, Malcolm.
Billy Time. So let's continue this on. Um Miss Brown, um, would you provide us our invitation for today? Miss Johnson for our invitation invitation today. Thank you. If we can all
uh bow our heads or just give a moment of silence. Lord, we come to you tonight with humble hearts, recognizing both the weight of the decisions we make and the needs of the people we serve. Remind us that it is you who has chosen us to serve your people. As we gather for this meeting, grant us the clarity of mind, steadiness of purpose, and a spirit of compassion. Help us to consider every neighborhood, every family, and every future shaped by the choices that we make. Лор, ви лифта о комінні дорингін. As people are hurting, displaced. And homeless, and з the border patrol invades our sі. We pray for protection, compassion, and justice for all who are affected. Calm their fears and safeguard the vulnerable.
Lord, remind us of the teaching in your word that when we care for those with the least protection and the least power, that we honor you. Bless our staff with endurance, bless our residents with peace and understanding, and bless this council with wisdom so that all of our work will honor you. Amen. Thank you.
Amazing. If you choose to please um join us in the past, Our pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice together. I'm gonna ask the mayor pro tem to explain the zoning process for all of our members.
We'll do this first. Yes.
Before we do that, we are going to um have an action item that is to um part Appoint appointments to the Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority Board. I want to recognize the people that work through this to make this n da happen. Mr. Mitchell, Miss Mayfield and Mr Dregs. Mr. Driggs. And so this has been truly a journey. Um I think I've worked on this for five or six years actually. But here we are today and I'm proud to be able to uh um make this action noble item. So let's go ahead and start talking about adopt the action is to adopt a resolution appointing members to the Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority Board based upon the recommendations of the Charlotte Region recommendation of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, the recommendation of the Foundation for the Carolinas, and confirming the appointments made by me as Mayor.
Um Mr. Mitchell, would you like to address
Okay. Um th motion? Uh thank you, Mayor. Uh I'd like to um make the motion on the floor.

Thank you. And so just a brief comment. First of all, let me thank the work group who the mayor um had formed. And I think we put in about 17 hours of interviewing. And then let me thank this council because this was a a truly a team effort. We went from 145 applicants down to twenty-seven. Then we interviewed twenty-seven. And today we s uh we had our first round of voting. We had our first round of voting. Um
twenty six. Uh he's okay.
Mr. Ferguson withdrew, so we went out twenty-seven to twenty-six. So thank you, Councilmember Brown. And to all those who applied the interview, we thank you for sharing your time and talent with us. Uh for a very long, but I think a very productive process we had.
