Gonna go ahead and uh get started, folks. Um this is our December sixteenth, twenty twenty five joint meeting of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Fairfax County Park Authority Board. Um and it's been a little bit uh since we've had one of these, but wanted to have a check in with our partners uh on the park authority and uh when I met with with Jay and Kyle talking about Um the agenda for this meeting we thought you know we'd we'd keep it high level and and see where the discussion goes. Um but obviously some great things happening uh at the Park Authority. And before I turn this over uh to the chair of the Park Authority Board, I want to thank the members who are here um and also acknowledge that many of us uh earlier today were at the Celebration of Life for Harry Glasgow and so a a real champion of our parks.

uh that was lost and I said at that event it almost seems uh exactly fitting uh that we would be having a joint meeting with the Board of Supervisors and Park Authority Board on a day that we are reflecting on and remembering uh the huge contributions that Harry Glasgow made to parks uh and to Fairfax County. And so if we continue to keep uh his family in our thoughts and prayers, that would be appreciated. And again thank our authority members. uh board authority members for being here today and at this time um I will turn it over to our uh chairman of the park authority board Kyle Stone.

Thank you, Jeff. Uh I'll keep this short and sweet. Jade told me all I had to do was sit here quietly and look pretty. Uh so I don't have very much to say. Uh thank you for the opportunity to come out here. Uh we're looking forward to presenting you on what we've got going on uh the past year or so with the park authority system. A lot of good news to share and happy to do so.

Um good morning. Is it still good afternoon? Um everyone. I want to start before the presentation starts. I want to introduce the gentleman to my um right, Nigel Fields. He's the new um uh deputy director for um planning and development. He is replacing um Amy Vosper, who's right back there. As this is what will be her last time in front of the BOS as a deputy. Uh we had our retirement party last year. I'm taking a little bit of a point of personal privilege her retirement party last year and we thanked her for her ten years of service. But that's Last night. Okay. This is why everybody's here. Everybody's here. Everybody's here. Everybody's here to correct me. Everybody's here to correct me. Thank you. Thank you.

It's a It's a last night. Uh yes. to celebrate her ten years of service to the uh park authority and to the county. So a little point of person. Okay.

So as um Chairman McKay had said, we're gonna have a fifty thousand foot view as to the wonderful park authority and all the wonderful things that we've done um this year. So our theme for this presentation is twenty twenty six, a park system built for everyone. So as it says, our job is to wisely invest in our parks um so they remain remain beloved, accessible, and resilient. So in 2025, FCPA improved the lives of our residents through 16.3 million visitations to our parks, rec centers, and golf courses. Not that any of you are are looking at last year's presentation. That number is a little short from last year's number. It was a very wet year. So there's a lot of rain this year. We track that because of our revenue fund and golf rounds.

And so it was a little bit of a wet year, but still wonderful to have 16.3 billion. visit visitations to our parks, rec centres and golf courses. It's a little snapshot as to who we are. I say um we are a medium sized city. We do everything from um the cradle to the grave for uh large projects, but we also have sort of everything. So um amongst the one point two million residents, we have eight golf courses. Um again sixteen a little bit more than sixteen million total visitation. Um nine rec centers, sixty staff sites, and I I bring that up because we are widely distributed across the entire county.
