We'll now move on to the conference meeting this afternoon. And um There's no communications, so I guess we'll begin with c uh city commission reports. Commissioner Herbst. And thank you. Uh Commissioner Beasley Pittman. Yes, thank you, Mayor. You're welcome.

Again, thank you, Mayor. um for this opportunity to share what we have been Just blessed to take part in these last days. It seemed like we've been here like seven days this week. I don't know if I could continuation. I love this space, don't get me wrong, but I'm just like we are here. We are truly here in this building. Um wanna start with on Wednesday, September ninth. Um, it's official, yes. Thirteen hundred West Brower Boulevard police headquarters is open. We had the ribbon cutting. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Uh the pleasure to stand alongside a police chief in the diask in its entirety. Um to cut the ribbon to um begin to utilize this beautiful space that we have here. Um it was great to be able to shake hands with um previous police chiefs, our city managers from before, a retired police department that was here as well, our neighbors that were here.
And overall the the attendees, and so was I, truly impressed and excited by the tours that was offered. So um thank you to all of those who organized and put this great opportunity together for the ribbon cutting. Um also um our chaplain was here. Um he blessed this building, blessed the first responders um for decades to come, you know, just affirming that this space is a safe haven and that it'll be a space for great prote um productivity and great engagement for the community. So We're here, thirteen hundred West Brown Boulevard. Yes. Yes. Also on Thursday, September the eleventh, we attended two remembrance ceremonies that were held here in the city, um nine one one ceremonies um attending alongside um the commission.
We were first at the um Fort Lauderdale Fire Museum. They also were the organiz organizers of the event. Again, a beautiful um ceremony that was put together where we were able to reflect and be encouraged after the twenty five years of what um most of us in this room, all of us in this room actually live through. And um the mayor um made a a a point, hadn't even thought about, you know, we have a it's so many millions of people at this point that weren't alive on that day. They have no true connection. They hear the the stories as we share it. But we have a responsibility to share share the story in a way that it's understood and that it will never be forgotten that we are a nation. of resilience. So it was a great opportunity um to be together and reflect.
Also we from there we went on to the um NSU Art our Art Us um Museum, another great opportunity for celebration. Thank you to the museum for everything that um that they offered. They offered a free exhibit also um photo exhibit of um nine one one um things, pictures that were captured through that day and then also through um rebuilding of the city. On Saturday the twelfth I had the honor of attending and presenting an expression of expression of sympathy for uh Mr. Floyd T. Johnson. Um as you know, Mr. Floyd um T. Johnson, he was at one point um Broward County Administrator as well as city manager here for the city of Fort Lauderdale. Um also um learning his his his long resume of the things he touched in this city and this county overall, um his memorial service was at
the main library downtown. So I had the privilege of going and presenting that expression on behalf of our city commission. On the thirteenth the Mayor the Mayor and I attended the centennial celebration for the anniversary of Saint Andrew's Catholic School. Anthony's Oh, excuse me, Saint Anthony's. What did I get oh yes, Anthony's, yes, beautiful. Um, full massive tendons, um I was excited to be there. I I will say I wasn't expecting um to look for parking. We talked about that. Um a full congregation of beautiful mass and um I was really excited when they recognized the alumni and they went back, I believe it started in nineteen fifty asking alumni to stand and there were so many um
