Then that will bring us to our uh presentation for this evening, uh Economic Development and Tourism Strategic Plan with uh Mr Russell Seymour, Director of a Department of Economic Development. Thank you.
So it's my understanding if I heard everybody correct as I got here this afternoon or this evening that you like very long meetings.
And
so what I'd like to do this evening is start and just go through the actual p uh plan. We'll just read it line by line.

I thought G G was gonna throw something at me there for a minute, so I don't want to be careful. Well, good evening. And I did want to start out by saying thank you. Thank you very much for having me come. This is a a a great opportunity for us to talk. James and I have been working And putting a lot of ideas together. We're constantly hearing a lot of things from the local business community, local developers, and it's a pleasure to be able to come to you this evening and just be able to talk to you a little bit about the new economic development plan that was put out there. So I want you to look at the first this is sort of the project overview, but these are the five areas that they were talking about building on.
And I really want to look at and show you Items number two and number three. First and foremost, this builds on legacy Leesburg. That was something that we had talked to the consultants about when they came on board. It was very important for me to make sure that whatever was implemented from an economic development standpoint tied in very well and was consistent with what the town was looking to do. So that's one thing you'll see, and they were very impressed with the legacy Leesburg clan. And then the review of the past and present studies, I believe that they had looked at about seven or eight different plans and studies, including the one that was completed in two thousand and three, which I believe was the business development strategy for the town.
So that was their starting point, that they had looked through those. These are the key themes that were identified by the group. So what the team did, the consultants, they actually went out And one of the things that we had asked staff to do was I asked Stay out of it. Don't don't get involved in it. Wait till the time after the consultants have had an opportunity to go out because When you've been here, you kind of see things, you have a feeling for things, but I wanted to make sure that the consultants got to hear from everybody. So they talked to residents, they talked to businesses, they talked to developers, they went across the board. And interesting enough, these were the key themes that were identified.
So the hometown, the quality of life, they talked about the importance of downtown. And that's something that I think we sometimes overlook is our downtown area in Leesburg. You know, downtowns are something that a lot of other localities try to invent.
