Since there is no public hearing this evening, petitioners are welcome to petition the planning commission on any subject. Persons wishing to address the commission as a petitioner should sign up at the podium and once recognized by the chair, individuals should advance to the podium and state his or her name and address. Persons should also indicate whether they are representing anyone other than themselves. After the presentation or comments, please be seated unless the Chair or members of the Commission have questions of the petitioner or speakers.
Statements which are demeaning or defamatory to members of the public staff or the commission are inappropriate and out of order. In the interest of fairness, we also ask that you observe the three minute time limit. You will hear a bell at the end of three minutes. At that time, we would appreciate your summing up and yielding the floor when the bell indicates your time has expired. This rule applies to all citizens. However, if you are representing a group such as an HOA, please indicate the group you are representing when you sign up and you will be allowed up to five minutes to speak. Good evening, Brian and the commission. I'm Lisa Norell. I own a home in the village of Leesburg. And I understand that the council, the commission is looking to potentially allow changes to the zoning back to full industrial within the village of Leesburg property area. we purchased our homes with the exclusions firmly in place so what i'd like to do this evening in the spirit of the christmas holiday and the spirit of leesburg is to read to you a few excerpts from the page 10 of the legacy leesburg 2022 plan These are character elements that many people contributed to to create the legacy Leesburg vision and goals. Maintaining a small town feel, preserving charm, creating a sense of place, increasing access to our natural resources, maintaining high quality suburban neighborhoods, which is another way of saying preserving our property values.
and hoping they grow, cultivating a welcoming environment to visitors, continuing stewardship of our natural environment. These are really important to me and why I moved away from a very busy area called Alexandria, Virginia, So tonight, I'd like to propose three ideas for you to consider in the spirit of the holidays and in the spirit of legacy Leesburg. Number one, please meet with Warrington, Virginia officials to avoid costly lessons that they learned from a proposed Amazon data center and why they rejected the proposal last June. This is really key because it ended up forcing somebody to destroy 200 trees, incomplete site plans, and absolutely no background information of noise-producing data center equipment.
Number two, please reach out and meet with Mr. Chris Miller, the president of the Piedmont Environmental Council. They have invested hundreds of hours studying the environmental and taxpayer impact of data centers, particularly for people in Fauquier County.
