Well, good evening, supervisors, good evening, staff, and good evening, Loudoun, and Happy New Year to everyone. I'd like to call to order the January seventh, two thousand twenty-five, Loudoun County Board Supervisors Business Meeting. This room has a hearing loop. So um my only comments this evening. It's another year and I am I continue to be very, very, very grateful to be chair of this county. Um it is an amazing opportunity and amazing way to serve and every year when I get to do my um the I'm the first one of the year that gets to do the inspiration um or statement, I start my year with the serenity prayer.
And that's what I'm gonna do right now. So God grant me The serenity, to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen. Would you all join me in the Pledge of Allegiance?
But United States of America. It is a republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Okay, we only have two items on the consent agenda and they are as follows. Um item one A appointments and confirmations and item two the administrative items report for january seventh, two thousand twenty five. I will make a motion to approve. Is there a second? Um seconded by Vice Chair Brixman. Is there a discussion? Seeing none, I'm paying please say aye. Aye. Any opposed? That motion will pass 9-0. Um uh I don't believe there, well, there are additions to the agenda, but those all those additions into the agenda, all the motions that are already running around on the agenda, are actually part of one of our items, and so that's those are technically not additions to the agenda. As far as I know, there are no other.
Other additions or deletions to the agenda, is that correct? Okay. Um my comments this today will be uh will be brief. Um first, uh this is an organizational meeting. In the past, uh I have we have done board comments and voice work calls and public comments and all those things in organizational meetings, but really you shouldn't. Really, the organizational meeting should be just that organizing the board for the next coming year. So if anyone is asked why I took those off, I really should have taken those off before. And so going forward, as long as I'm chair, organizational meeting will just be organizing the board for the next um for for that year. So there's no other anything to that. So there's no voice for a cost tonight, there's no resolutions, there's no public comments, there's no board comments, because we're doing an organizational meeting.
So that's that's that's all that is Yeah. Uh my only other comments, I have three more. Supervisors were doing a pretty good job continuing to fill out our commissions, committee, and board seats. Please keep making those nominations. Um I'm going to try this year really to start using those bodies more because I do not think we use them as much enough. Um and they have lots of um great uh great expertise on our on on all of those bodies. Um I won't give my regional Meeting update tonight. I'll give that next time because again this organizational meeting, except to say that um uh the NACO-led session does start on March 1st. And so I'm telling you that now because if you're not registered for the NACO-led session, it's about time to do that right now.
I won't call any names, Supervisor Kirshner, but I will say that this year there's gonna be a lot more focus on rural. Items at NACO. Um, but I won't call any districts, Catocton and Little River. Um, one of the things that uh we know we're going to discuss a lot more is the health policies and rural health, including including rural maternity health. Mr. Kirsthner and I have have already had this conversation of what it is to be an EMS person or um um in in in rural America or in areas that are not even called rural counties, they're called frontier counties.
