Well, good afternoon, supervisors. Good afternoon, staff, and good afternoon, Loudoun. Like to call to order the December 16th, 2025, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Business Meeting. Please see the clerk to request one. This evening, Miss Brixman will lead us in words and inspiration and the pledge of Legion, Midz Brixman. Thank you, Madam Chair.

Um it it's been a week. Um and it's it was hard for me to think of um words of inspiration uh given the Bondi Beach uh massacre, the Brown University mass shooting, Rob Reiner, for gosh sakes. Um so and call me corny, but uh I woke up to a song This morning that reminded me to be strong. And I'm gonna paraphrase it here. It says, uh, harsh words and deeds can make a mockingbird forget she was born to sing. The world is hard on beautiful things. The world is hard on beautiful religions. It's hard on beautiful peacemakers. It's hard on beautiful governments like democracies. The world is hard on beautiful people, uh, like Rob Reiner, who spent his life uh entertaining people and making what I think were credible, uh making credible commentary on our zeitgeist uh and on our you know what was going on in our nation.

And uh so I'll just say, you know, I hope that we can come back After a little bit of a break and reflection, um, and continue to shine, because if we don't continue to shine and we don't continue to sing and we don't continue to fight for what's right, then um we are losing an opportunity uh to do that. So the world is hard on beautiful things, but we can sing. Please join me in the pledge. Okay, um Uh I do have a proposed consent agenda. It is just two items. It is the contract award, construction of the Sterling Boulevard, Washington O and D Dominion Trail Overpass, and the contract award automatic um external defibrillator and accessories.

Okay. All right. Thank you. All right. Anybody else have anything on the consent agenda? Because Mr. Grinch who's uh uh uh Quran who's uh does not want to talk on it, so okay. But humbug is right. All in people say aye. Aye. All right. Any opposed? That motion will pass nine zero. Um I uh my my organization updates today are are are few. Um so I'm sorry, I'm I just walked in so I didn't get write them all down. Uh we I did do leadership grade in Washington. Um it was at the uh children's um the children's hospital in D C and this um this month's theme was mental health. Uh it was um all the things that we've talked about on this board already, um, except for the fact that that that there is um a growing and valid concern about mental health amongst our young people, especially our adolescents.

Um um uh I sometimes I say adolescent girls uh versus boys, it's it's both. It's both. Um much of what we're seeing is being attributed to uh this crisis in social media and I'll talk about that uh a little more I was gonna say our next meeting, which is literally next year, um, but um i there there's some stats and things that I will share.

I also um uh did we did MVTA um nothing new on MVTA uh we I I did as MVTA chair appoint a nominating committee for the MVTA officers next year. I will stand the next year um again if they will accept me to be the chair of MVTA again next year I'll be happy to do that. Today was monumentally important.
