Please see the clerk to request one. I'll start off with my piece of TLUC worthless information, as I always do. Uh George Washington lost his first bid for public office. Well before he agreed to serve the United States of America as its first president, Washington ran for a seat in the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1755 and lost pretty badly. He tried again two years later, this time edging out the competition after resorting to the tried and true political method of buying drinks for his supporters. Washington wound up spending seven years in the House, Virginia House, as a representative of Frederick County and another decade representing Fairfax County before he abandoned the post in June of nine of seventeen seventy-five to lead the Continental Army.

Well good evening, uh Chair Turner and members of the committee. Thank you for allowing us to uh come in tonight and provide these briefings. We do apologize, there's a lot of information here. uh and a lot of uh really in depth information to absorb. But the primary purpose of this is to ensure that all the board members through both the committees, both uh finance and T luck, have an opportunity to dig into this information in advance of the the transit summit, which is on May twenty ninth. So um if you will indulge us, we'd like to kinda just dive right in, right, run through it and then really our goal is to s solicit your feedback and your thoughts uh to help us continue to form uh the transit summit uh items as as uh we can present them to you on that date.

Oh good afternoon and uh thank you for having us. So we're gonna start out with the local fixed route services. Uh the guidelines that we put out there were to provide multimodal convenient transit options for the residents, um essentially connect as many uh communities as possible. Uh reduce the number of SOVs on the road, single occupancy vehicles, and uh obviously reduce greenhouse gases as well. So next slide, thank you. That's right. Next slide. So the the question that we have now that we've got uh uh nineteen new routes up and running um is what is the long term focus of the transit system, coverage or ridership? And uh that's gonna be one of the key questions at the transit summit. So we wanted to go over some background and some uh um performance metrics and measures to uh set the stage for that next stage or next

Slide, please. So on the on the uh local fixed route side, we have um twenty nine routes in total. We have ten that have been operating for over twenty years. Um we consider those our legacy routes. Those you know uh essentially serve our l lowest of the income communities in the county, um, basically running through parts of Leesburg, Sterling, Sugarland, Ashburn, Countryside, um And Potomac Falls a a little bit. And then we have nineteen new silver line routes that are really were designed. to connect as much of the rest of Loudoun we could get to to the Silver Line stations. Um and they also connect to the legacy routes to give those connections, those routes connections to the Silver Line stations as well.

Next slide please. So of the of the um Ten legacy routes. The importance of this slide is to actually discuss the data collected from onboard surveys that we did in October of 2022.
