Evening and welcome to our Prince William County Public Schools staff. We have a working session with you and we know you have a lot of information to share with us. So as you can see, we have quite a few commissioners that are missing. The working session is being recorded from what I understand. So what I'm going to envision is going to happen is that we're going to give you guys all the time you need within our 45 minutes to present your information. And then if we run out of time outside of that 45 minutes, expect questions to come from the commission by way of the clerk back over to you. And you'll respond to the clerk. She'll give us the answer. So, whosoever's up first, the floor is yours.
There we go. Thank you very much. Now it's live. I'm Dr. Cartlidge. I lead the planning staff over at the Prince William County Schools. We have been invited by Mr. Ross to come this evening, do a joint work session to give some insights into the processes, tools, services that we have publicly available. And then, of course, to just continue to foster our collaboration between the county staff and the school staff as we all are working towards the same shared vision for the county. So joining me, they'll introduce themselves as they present over the areas that they lead. We have our contact information on this slide for you all. And as you said earlier, any questions that you might have as we're presenting, let's hold those to the end of the slide deck.
And then I think some of those questions will probably get answered along the way. Additionally, if there are any others that we've run out of time, share those with us. And for clarification, the 45 minutes, is that to include questions, or is that our total allotted time?

session. Perfect. Thank you. All right. So the first one I'm going to turn over to is our GIS programmer, Christopher Papp. He's going to share a little bit about the planning portal that we have online. We'll talk very high level, give a very short demo. All of this is intended just to show you what is out there so that you know those resources are available.
So the planning portal that we set up is an important resource to make all of the publications, the enrollment and non-enrollment publications available to the public. This allows us to update all of the data regularly, some monthly and some every year. Also, we provide more interactive mapping applications so that the public can view certain regions of the county and view certain subsets of data. And in addition to this, the publications that we provide are all accessible. All of the PDFs can be downloaded as accessible PDFs. And on the site page, we also provide a resource for looking at the procedures behind the boundary planning process. So here's just an overall view of a list of all of the non-enrollment applications, the enrollment publications, and then the web mapping applications.
This just covers all of the resources that are available on the site page. So I'll just go into a brief tour of the, site page, here's the site page with all the quick links, the facilities, attendance areas, enrollment reports, and so on.
And then here's the resource for the boundary planning process. All right.
All right. I'm up next. I'll hit a very high level, unless you all want to go out to dinner afterwards. We can talk three or four hours about this topic. You're buying, of course. Overall, I just want to give you an understanding of how we project K-12 enrollment in PWCS. The entire process was completely overhauled, comprehensive, redesigned two years ago. We collaborated with two different consulting firms, leading experts on the West Coast and East Coast, Between those firms, they serve New York City public schools, San Diego public schools, loads of experience. We use them as think partners. We pulled different techniques from both of them and then built a comprehensive model that is, at the foundation, the cohort survival method, which means you look at how many kids you have in this grade
