The story of that song is basically that I was searching for something to inspire Gracie, because I feel like we were hitting a wall.
creatively with the album where it was like literally we were kind of stuck where we had like all these different songs and but we didn't have the centerpiece of it or like the glue and so I was in the studio early searching one day and just was like
fuck it i'm gonna make the the coolest thing i can make i'm gonna sample myself i'm gonna sequence myself and i'm gonna write chords and then she walked into that you know and she just started and she wrote the song and like it just because it's like triggered her brain um and then we were we felt oh hit the wall that's the that's the glue that binds everything else together because it's kind of
minimalist weird avant-garde pop song but it's also like clearly organic you know like related to the folkier side of her world but then lyrically it's really self-reflective and existential and just brilliant in the way that she's like
looking at herself and the patterns of breakdowns and kind of what her life has been like in recent years and all the success too.
But I think the intro is really... On that song, I would say it's very...
very important.
It sets the table in a way and kind of it piques your curiosity.
As far as intros and the introductions, Noah Khan, The Great Divide came out recently and we made a bunch of songs for it at the end of August, which opens his record.
So it's the intro to his new record.
I was kind of shocked when he told me it was the first song because it's kind of this, in general, it's different.
It was like a new world in a way for him.
But he had written that kind of impressionistic piano that you hear at the beginning that he sings to.
And I created this drone around him.
And when we recorded it, it was August.
