I don't think it's the end of the world if he signs now and comes to camp to play at least a preseason game and then tee it up for the regular season.

You know, you'd sure like for him to have been here from the start, especially as you mentioned, the number one center, but also one of the leaders in the room.

They expect more of him from a leadership perspective.

So I think you have to get creative on both fronts.

You don't sign him for four years.

I mean, you wouldn't agree to that because it walks him right up to free agency.

But if you can punt this down the road for two years, see where his numbers go.

I mean, these guys are getting paid on their potential right now, right?

If Fantilli gets $14 million, his numbers are not that of a $14 million player.

continuing to grow salaries are rising and you anticipate that a 21 year old number one center his best is still in front of him uh so maybe in two years you've got a clearer picture of that and both sides find it easier to agree on the numbers

So that was disappointing.

And I think if you're a Blue Jackets fan, I don't think anything he said made you feel any better about the situation.
